Please give this song a listen and give me a critique. It's a demo, but I like to think it's essentially what I want the finished product to sound like and I hope you enjoy it.

Love,

The last posse cut that featured Lou begs to differ.

One good rap does not a career make. The rapping on this was not of that caliber. Just my opinion.

It's just kinda whatever to me. Nothing really remarkable about your flow or content on this song. Your singing voice is the best part of the track. I like the Steve Mileresque beginning of the song, not so much after that. It's not complete shit or anything, it just sounds like a lot of other music I've heard. Basic pop song shit.

Good luck to you though man.

Thank you! I haven't received any non-friend reviews to this point. I appreciate it. I disagree with you but I'm glad you listened.

Sorry about the shitty comment at the beginning, it's very easy to be a dickhead on here.

Don't trip man, I've been enjoying the feedback I've been getting all day. Maybe I won't wait another 2 years to release something else. Maybe.

I would think if Crash gets a pass Lou definitely gets a pass.

Thoughts (all just my opinion, obviously):

1) the prelude and the song itself don't belong next to each other.

2) I think you're trying to sing out of your range in the prelude, and it doesn't do you well.

3) As for the song itself, I think the production and the chorus both work, if I understand what you're trying to do with them. If you're trying to make an "indy pop" song, you're doing it. I don't mean this in a smartass way or as an insult.

4) the rapping flat out doesn't work with the production and the chorus. There's kind of a throwback quality to your rapping that worked really well on the posse cut (IIRC when I first heard that I thought "new Nice N Smooth!" -- again, not an insult, I only listened to this b/c of my memory of you on the posse cut), but it just doesn't even remotely work on this song.

Basically, I think you need to decide if you want to make indy pop music, and if you do that, stick to singing, OR, if you want to make rappy throwback music, and if you do that, no more auto-tune choruses and distorted guitar power chords.

So, I honestly don't like this, but I honestly don't think you're without talent either.

Hope this helps.

^^what he said, except the singing on the prelude didn't necessarily sound "out of your range". the singing parts were pretty swag on some ricky martin shit.

having both the prelude and the actual song on the same track threw me off a bit and that beatboxing interlude thing is just weird.

Thanks for listening guys. Its definitely a demo, and as far as singing goes, it was my first love, followed by beatboxing followed by rapping. I understand you not feeling it, I mean, the music I write doesn't really fit in any one genre (I had never heard indie pop, but that sounds like a good name); I was going for the feeling of a panic attack more than I was going for having amazing raps. Hell, the first & third verses are the same.

To PopeyeJones, the prelude in the front was more to contrast with the manic sound of the proper song, which if you've ever had a panic attack, it might make sense. I'm trying to come out with a song every few weeks until I have enough for a proper EP, so if you guys don't like this, you're probably gonna HATE the rest of them. Still though, I'm enjoying myself, and I don't wanna take it too seriously, but I like to think this is better than a lot of the stuff out there today.

Love,

Smooth "Thanks for not :lock: ing this" Lou

On the posse cuts you had this very confident, old-schoolish flow. This beat is just a terrible match for that, and the end result is that your flow feels really off as it tries to match with the beat. I don't know if I hate the beat (but I might, and I tend to have more tolerance for that type of production than most), but it's not a good choice for you at all imo.

I dunno if it's adblock playing with with chrome or something, but does that page seriously not have fucking volume controls?
