Rank these shows.

Post by Reason »

1. Community
2. 30 Rock
2. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
2. Office
(:icedit: yes i'm being gay and 3-way tying 30 rock/iasip/office)

5. Parks & Rec
6. Modern Family
7. Big Bang Theory
8. How I Met Your Mother

Try not to get too nostalgic here. This ain't all-time, it's right now. Otherwise I'd rank Office higher (really sick of Amy Ryan's character and story arc at this point, they've been dragging it on the last few episodes very gayly)

Community's movie references are overwhelming. There are too many and they are too good. I just love this show. Plus it's hard to fuck with Troy & Abed.

30 Rock is the best written of all of those imo.

Modern Family is overrated as fuck but still decent and has its moments.

Big Bang Theory is not as bad as nerdz say it is. Shelden = white Abed, precursor to Abed without the movie references

How I Met Your Mother is utter garbage. It makes me want to kill human beings everytime I see it. It's such utter formulaic ROM COM nonsense, fucking stupid faggots NOBODY GIVES A SHIT WHO THIS FAGGOT FELL IN LOVE WITH OR ENDED UP WITH OR WHATEVER THE FUCK THE PREMISE IS, WHY IS THIS SHOW POPULAR, FUCK PEOPLE

Haven't watched the others enough/ at all.

I'm done with 30 Rock. They've been traveling down the same road for way too long at this point.

Based on last/current season:

1. Community
2. Office
3. Philly
4. P&R
5. 30 Rock

I have never seen nor want to see any of the others.

List needs The League, by the way.

1. Community
2. The League
3. Parks and Recreations (Simply for the moment will change as season progresses)
4. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
5. Archer
6. 30 Rock

Haven't watched The Office in about two years, and Modern Family did nothing for me. The other shows are on CBS and as such I don't watch them, although I catch an episode of How I Met Your Mother in syndication every now and then, and it is fairly enjoyable.

If we're going with right now:

1. Parks & Rec
2. Community
3. Modern Family
4. How I Met Your Mother
5. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
6. Big Bang Theory
7. Office
8. 30 Rock

30 Rock has really died. The Office still has great moments, but nothing different. I'm a big How I Met Your Mother fan and see it getting better as this season progresses after taking a step back last season.

Agree with The League needing to be on this list. It'd be #1 for me, easily.

1. Community
-took awhile to come to the conclusion because its such a new show, but its def one of best shows on tv. the writing and the chemistry of the cast makes it an unmissable show to me. its hard to pick a favorite character tho i can say Jeff is my least favorite.

2. The Office
-i stopped watching after Season 4 and started hating because i got sick of Steve and his whole comedy style. i ended up catching up on all the episodes and i like the show more than i ever did before. I wouldnt say its my #2 show really but i cant deny it.

3. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
-great show. the latest season starts off kind of slow but i think it ended up pretty good tho i'd rather have like 6 to 8 more episodes on there.

4. Parks & Rec
-If this was like 8 months ago i'd say this was my favorite show. im the guy who would argue this>>>The Office to anyone who wasnt familiar with the show. the premier was lackluster but i am happy that shit is back.

5. Modern Family
-Watched a random ep of this one day online and hated it. took a chance and downloaded the first season and watched it and became a fan. its not in your face funny but its not the most cut and dry family humor that you'd expect from a family show. people expect ed o'neill to run the show and he's not even in the top 3 funniest of the show..maybe #3 at best.

6. 30 Rock
-Good show but i never feel like watching it unless i need my Tina Fey Fix :killacam:

7. Big Bang Theory
-Avoided this show at all costs until i got bored. downloaded the first 3 seasons because i had the blank dvds to spare and it was worth it once i got thru season 2. didnt like it at first but its a likable show, nothing i'd immediately suggest to anyone tho.

n/a - How i Met Your Mother
- never saw this one. i like Jason Segel but i dont care for anyone else in the cast. if i get bored sometime here in the next few months i may have to edit this post.

1. Community - pretty surprised it's topping nearly every list, though that's exactly where it should be. Have loved it from the get go and can watch any episode three or four times and shit stays fresh as the first watch.
2. Cougar Town - it's really right up there with Community in terms of enjoyability. Noone should be dissuaded by the title/initial plot/courtney cox. show packs the audible lols like little else and the entire ensemble is ridiculous (busy phillips in particular)
3. IASIP - never got around to finishing last season, but would still rank it above the other options. think i left off right before the lethal weapon ep so it's a must to put the head down and finish this in the near future
4. Parks & Rec - catching up on this but the hype are true. show's lulz
5. Modern Family - only seen the first season but it has its moments
6. HIMYM - am often puzzled as to why i still watch this. as said above Jason Segel is great but the lead character is the douchiest bag on television. this season is better than the last (needs more Captain Dale Cooper and less dead dad drama)
7. Big Bang Theory - have watched enough of this to have an opinion and that opinion is that it is embarrassingly awful.
n/a -- haven't seen much of the office or 30 rock and don't really plan to

Is there a reason to watch Modern Family other than to see Sofia Vergara jiggle?

Can we all agree that CBS is pretty much worthless other than NFL and NCAA coverage? What was the last good show they had? They couldn't even do Dexter right.

How anyone can stand NBC's current block of smug twee mockumentary whitebread faggot garbage is really beyond me. The only tolerable show they have is 30 Rock. The rest are like neutered Scrubs. Yes, they are that awful.

Community, P&R, and The Office are no different than the 3 camera sitcoms they're supposed to be moving past. A collection of shitheads that spout overly-written "clever" banter. But these shows have the added bonus of being aware of how clever they think they are, for a nice layer of vainglory. P&R and The Office are worse only because LOOKING AT THE CAMERA still counts as writing on those shows.

Not to mention the bloated ensemble of cartoon characters each show has gnawing scenery. You could swap any of them into any of the other shows on NBC and not skip a beat.

HIMYM gets unnecessary hatred because it's on CBS and therefore "uncool" but it's not horrible. If the guy who eventually meets your mother wasn't on the show it'd probably be the best.

Sunny has jumped the shark but can still stumble into some gold.

Don't watch Modern or Big Bang.

thats a big reason to watch. also add her accent on there too..

its a good show if you're willing to sit thru "family" comedy tho its not as cut and paste as the avg family show. also the lack of a laugh track and the more modern delivery of the show makes it more appealing than your ave "Insert joke here + laugh track + joke #2" schtick.

i didnt really like it much thru the first few eps because of the Arrested Development comparisons but halfway thru season 1 i started to get it and since i rewatched season one its alot funnier than when i originally saw it.

Cameron is the funniest to me but Phil is right there too, it took me awhile to like Phil but he says some of the dumbest shit...his wife could get it too

The 30 Rock hate on here somehow actually makes me less likely to give Community the chance it probably deserves.

Basically if yall HATE 30Rock to the degree yall seem to then Community probably will not be as good as yall claim it to be for me. Im not saying 30 Rock hasnt lost some steam, but damn...

As of yet I've watched one ep of Community and wasnt convinced...I do need to give it a couple more chances though.

I feel like P&R is a lot less bad about this and a lot of the other stuff you mentioned than The Office.

I think IASiP gets far too much credit. Every single character annoys the hell out of me. And I think its made me laugh once.

Can you recommend some situation comedies that are forthright, masculine, traditionally structured, hardscrabble, heterosexual works of enduring art then?

Sure! Try the best sitcoms on TV: Louie, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Delocated.

They're not traditional but certainly not that mockumentary tripe.
