Not a bad idea. And the author is correct, a vinyl LP should be in order too. The OG vinyl on single LP sounds muffled.

This would be the first Common album I'd buy since One Day...

our support this new deluxe edition resurrection reissue, yes i will

but heads ain't checking for 'like water..', 'electric circus', 'be' & the 'finding..', i mean, they wern't on some 100% hip hop boom bap shit, but they was a couple of sick tunes on there and the albums were diffrent, but cohesive, you get what i'm saying, when he gets on premo and kanye beats his has that fire in his belly and his moved on from how he was rolling when he was younger, he does grown people music, if you can appreciate that type of vibe and have a diffrent pallate and ear for a wide variety of music, i feel like yeah, you would enjoy them albums i've just mentioned,

very dope

i also enjoyed electric circus ,the next albums after may have a couple jams that are nice but in my opinion he lost it, and his last album whatever that was incomplete ep was trash

LWFC was a little better than I remembered last time I checked, but it's basically sappy garbage apart from Dooinit and Sixth Sense. When it's not sappy it's corny and/or boring.

Damn you came out the woodwork for this post :)

I've truthfully not listened to anything past Electric Circus. From Can I? To Like Water are my jawns though.

lwfc is a perfect 5 5 5 in beats, rhymes and creativity.
IMHO, there is no lyricist now or before that can match the lyrical dexterity of Qwel.

You just reminded me that I've only had 19 posts in 5 years here. It's probably for the best lol.

As for Common albums outside of "Resurrection". The first thing I think of is "neo soul" and "conscious hip hop". I doubt I'm the only one with the opinion that neo soul aged horribly, or was bad to begin with.

As for conscious hip hop the first thing I think of is this faggot :ignore: Or maybe that's political hip hop. Or both. Who knows. People like :ignore: ruin everything.

"Grown up people music"? That's a labeling I've learned to stay the fuck away from. Especially in hip hop.

i ain't gonna front, back in the day, when i was younger, i wasn't checking for 'like water' too tuff other than 'sixth sense', i just wanted to hear common spit that piff, that venom over that good ol boom bap, but as i got older, i learnt to appreciate the more laid back tunes on that album too, i got a more varied feel for diffrent sounds, i mean don't get it twisted, i would still rather hear common spit over a premo or a kanye sictrumental, you get what i'm saying, but i've grown to appreciate the other type of soundscapes, common be spraying them bars over too, from 'like water..', to 'electric circus', to 'be' to 'finding...', i can appreciate those albums much more now, than if i had probably heard them when i was younger, thats called growth fam, theirs nuthin wrong wit that so long as you don't go too leftfield and stray from your core fanbase, thats the way i see it

neo soul is soul based music in a comtempoary fashion, common isn't a neo soul artist, he's a rapper, mc or whatever you want to call it, that does hip hop or rap music on a mainstream commercial level

i wouldn't exactly call common a consious artist or political, even though some of his work has political overtones, he's music catologue is more of a average brother from the projects thats socially aware of his surroundings and the causes of it and choose's to spit positive shit on a mature level that inspires his listeners wit complex wordplay and lyricism, but wit a commercial appeal, you see what i'm saying, thats the way i see it, true story

so called political or consious rap or hip hop, whatever you want to call it is more artists like
public enemy
krs one
dead prez
the coup
brand nubian
nyoil
immortal technique
paris
kam

artists like that and these are mostly street raised artists that expose the system and push for the upliftment of my people in a militant way but wit talent, there so called consious, but they ain't corny or backpackers, there street artists that push a political agenda to enlighten heads on how shit really is out here, or what the system is really about, i don't see whats corny about this type of music i mean i would really like to know what type of music you check for?

you have no reason to call me a faggot. you don't know me in real life.
whoever you are, you can do better than this.
i've never ruined anything in my life.
most shows are improved by my presence, because i show love and give respect to those who are true about hip hop.

y'know, you could contribute intelligent thoughts and good music to this place instead of lurking and sniping from the bleachers.
there are people in this world who try to do a great job pretending i'm the fucking villain of hip hop, when nothing could be further from the truth. i just speak my mind and open my heart. and for that, i'm a faggot? never that. unless your heroes are faggots too for doing the exact same thing.
i'm just saying.

oh, and that second disc is a pretty thin offering. this still is Common's best album, at the end of the day.

peace

You are right there is nothing wrong with it. Artists evolve, individual listeners preferences change. What doesn't work for me, works for someone else. I'm sure I'll mellow out as I grow older.

I haven't listened to lwfc in a couple years, probably time for me to revisit it.

so what kind of concerts do you think artists like?

concerts where:

A) Nobody is singing, participating, listening, watching, enjoying, and/or appreciating the music? or
B) Everyone is singing, participating, listening, watching, enjoying, dancing, rejoicing, and cherishing the music?

I've been doing this too long to not say certain facts. I ALWAYS celebrate the music. I'm not there to fucking schmooze, look cool, buy drinks at the bar, pick up girls (that's the secondary directive :rickjames: ), or scam my way backstage just to feel cool.

I have been to well over a thousand concerts FOR THE MUSIC. I am well known for going up front right beside the speakers and celebrating each song. I get pissed off at motherfuckers who take this shit for granted. Get guest list and don't even show, or show up late and miss half the main act and shrug it off. I go to see every opening act I can, and watch the whole show until the end. I love music, not any of the bullshit people or politics around music.

So I WILL say that most shows are improved by my presence, and I'm not the only one who says that. I get invited to a lot of events. People want my energy at their party, because I show lots of love to good music, and because people know I'm the fucking truth, not no industry devil or some hater ass blogger. I love this shit too much to lie about it anymore.

yeah, WOW.
You're in Heaven right now, God.
