Good movie but the ending left me unfulfilled.

awesome movie. really enjoyed it & loved the ending personally
agreed that the movie was sort of more about the character (and in part the city of new orleans) than the plot

was definitely surprised at how funny it was. i was laughing throughout the entire movie

Not sure I can think of anything better this year, although my taste is a bit myopic.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

i thought it was goofy but maybe i missed the point. drizzle if herzog said he never watched the original, then how did he loosely follow the same story line and theme?

on one hand i don't think the screenplay is written by herzog here, at least not entirely. on the other hand herzog says a lot of shit

he didn't write the screenplay but he said he did some re-writes to make it more "herzogian" & that cage improvised some of his scenes

check out his recent audio interview on 'the treatment with elvis mitchell'. awesome podcast with interviews with tons of big name directors/actors

Fucking great movie. I enjoyed it most as a dark comedy. I dont find it too far of a stretch from the first: Terrance's drug and gambling addictions, him having sex with lil hotties he's arresting, the hypocrisy of him looking down on criminals even though he's the biggest crook of all, etc. But I did feel the first took itself a lil too seriously, where as this one def. didnt. I thought the iguanas and breakdancing soul was fucking great. I got the impression that his dad was a takeoff from Keital's character in the first one. The ending was some shit. I do wish they explored more of his relationship with Kilmer, I was stoked to see him in the first scene but his was severely underused in the long run. After watching last night, my vocabulary was rife with quotables from this flick..."WHASSUP!?!," or the Congressman's son he robbed. Chino XL was random. Movie could have used a few more N.O. locals. In summary: Werner Herzog is God.

I've only seen Grizzly Man, Aguirre, and My Favorite Fiend. Can anyone give me a top 10 list of Herzog movies to check out?

Stroszek & Little Dieter Needs To Fly are next on my herzog "to see" list..

Fitz-fucking-Carraldo.

Little Dieter Needs to Fly is his best doc.

In addition to the ones Ack listed, Nosferatu and Woyzek are good as well, but they are far behind Fitz, Aguirre and Dieter, which I would rank as his top 3.

By Herzog:

Fitzcarraldo
Land Of Silence and Darkness
Strozcek
Nosferatu
Little Dieter Needs to Fly
Lessons in Darkness
Encounters at the edge of the world
Woyzeck
Cobra Verde
Gesualdo: Death For Five Voices

About Herzog:

Burden of dreams (documentary about making of Fitzcarraldo, probably the best doc on Herzog)
Werner Herzog eats his shoe (exactly what the title reads)

Herzog's "Even Dwarfs Started Small" should be seen just because it's amazing that it exists.

Saw it last night and as let down as I was by "Bronson," "Bad Lieutenant" more than surpassed my highest expectations. Awesome film, first day cop when it hits DVD. 2nd favorite movie this year behind "Joyrides."

Watched a theater full of New York snobby stiffly stiffersons turn into children watching Power Rangers during the film. Great energy. Great movie.
