I honestly haven't been down there since the 90's when I'd drag my parents to White Sox matchups so I could watch Frank Thomas.
So I couldn't say really. Orioles fans are pretty decent though, even though their team sucks. Underrated fan base in general.
Hopefully this weather clears up a bit.
its a shame about liriano. before that injury he was on the verge of becoming one of baseballs most dominant pitchers. crazy how quickly things can turn.
Ivan Rodriguez set to break catching record against old team
ARLINGTON ג Half the career of Ivan Rodriguez.
Thatגs all Texas Rangers starting catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is hoping for.
If all goes as planned after tonightגs start against the Rangers, half the career of the Houston catcher would be more than 1,100 games caught.
Rodriguez tied Carlton Fisk for most games caught with 2,226 on Tuesday night. Heגs in line to break the record tonight.
Rodriguez will get to do it against the club for whom he played for 12 seasons and started what is sure to be a Hall of Fame career.
Rodriguez had no idea heגd be on track to break Fiskגs record when he was called up in 1991. He made his first start June 20 of that year as a 19-year-old just called up from Double A.
Heגs now 37 and with his fifth franchise. But Rodriguez still fondly remembers his time in Texas.
"All the memories here are nice," said Rodriguez, who is hitting .247 with six home runs and 27 RBI after his solo homer Tuesday. "The first day they called me up back in ג91, Bobby Valentine give me a chance to play in the big leagues. Thatגs one of the things Iגll never forget. He was the first manager to call me up and today Iגm still in the big leagues. That was a big moment. And basically every time I put on that big league uniform, thatגs big for me."
Rodriguez knew the record would come this year after he signed with the Astros in March. Heגs looking forward to getting it so he can move on and focus on playing.
Rodriguez has family in town for the record. He played catch with his son before the game and mingled with former teammates Jose Guzman and Michael Young.
He also homered to right in the fifth inning and received a standing ovation. He officially tied Fisk in the bottom of the fifth.
Rodriguez, a 14-time All-Star, is the Rangersג all-time hits leader and is third on the teamגs home run and RBI lists.
"I love california. the other day some bum was like "gimme a dollar, I SAID GIMME A DOLLA!!!!!" and I told him to sit down and shut the fuck up. and he did. cause real talk I will knock a bum the fuck out." --BeHemoth
Take the sweep. You lost your best pitcher and closer and it's only down hill from there.
Eh Halladay is only gonna miss two starts. Not sure what's up with Down though as nothing new came out today. Believe me, I'm not optimistic about the rest of the season with the way things have gone lately... but the sweep was cool after just being swept by Florida at home.
