Definitely looking forward to this.

Let's hope that they chill with the homosexual themes. I don't know anyone in real life that will watch "The Wire" or "Oz". Hell, I gave up on "The Wire" when it first came out because of the homo thugs. That shit turned out to be my favorite show of all time, but man, I wasn't trying to watch any of it at first.

it was talked about in the old wire thread.. but a new topic seems appropriate

:naswtf: @ not knowing a single person who watches oz or the wire..

Well, I don't know how y'all do in Canada, but it seems like everyone I know in Chicago is homophobic as fuck. If I recommended "The Wire" to someone, and they saw homo thugs runnin' their fingers through each other's afros and what not, I would most likely never live that shit down.

I'm strictly talking about the 27-33 age group, though. Maybe it's different for younger cowards that were hatched in the mid-to-late 80s. If you're exposed to some faggot shit at an early age, maybe your tolerance will be that much stronger later on in life. Just a theory.

wtf

if you watch a show like the wire and all you can see about it is one gay character, you're missing the point

and oz - it's a show about prison. rape happens...

Weird on the :phila: because it's an altogether different culture on here, but in real life, people will look at you strange if you try to recommend HBO shows. That's just my experience here in Chicago, though.

Well yeah, I got the first four seasons of "The Wire" and the first five season of "Oz" on DVD, but I'm just saying; HBO show creators are gonna find a way to get some homosexual shit involved, and that shit is unbearable. I'm sorry. Whether we're talking about "Rome" with dicks hanging out of suits of armor, or "Six Feet Under" with the gay interracial relationship, it never fails.

No offense but for somebody who seems to be into all sorts of different shit as far as movies and music you sometimes come off as incredibly small minded bordering on straight up bigotry. I'm talking like 1950s levels here.

Well, would I be small-minded if I were to talk shit about Mindbender dressing up in women's underwear? The motherfucker can do what he wants behind closed doors, but I'm not trying to witness any of it, you know what I'm saying?

i think that's a bit different but it's not worth arguing, either way everybody has different standarts for shit...

i guess it's no different than an 80 year old white man not wanting to watch a show featuring black actors
society is not going back

if someone is that uncomfortable with homosexuals.. that's their problem not mine

Sounds good.

I've only recently got a chance to watch all five seasons of The Wire (UK telly is ghey) on DVD and I love it. Only problem is I think I'm the only one who watches it. Shit needs more exposure over here.

This was phenomenal

It avoided all of the moronic cliches that normally go with these types of movies and shows

Ziggy from the Wire is excellent

Yeah I enjoyed it too. Amped for episode two. I don't know if it avoided "all the cliches," but it seemed pretty legit, especially based off the bigoted members of my family who are in the services.

Ziggy is hilarious in this. Although he plays a very similar character to, well, Ziggy.
