Well, I was about to watch Badlands before I opened the dvd case to find the DVD completely destroyed... Hopefully they have another copy.

Badlands is one of the best, and most underrated, films of the 1970s. Everything's great: Sheen, Spacek, and Oates' acting; Malick's direction; the score; the cinematography; the script. Get another copy dunny; it's one of the best films I've ever seen.
cascarrabias wrote:Badlands is really that great but it's not underrated by any means. Plenty of people rate it very highly.
People "in the know" rate it highly, but it's not a popular classics like Chinatown, The Godfather 1 & 2, Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, etc.
This is by far Terrance Malick's best script. Shit has so many off-kilter comedic moments:
-Kit and Holly going through the rich man's house.
-Kit confronting Warren Oates as he's painting the sign.
-Kit putting together a mound of rocks so people will know where the cops found him, then coming his hair before they pull up.
-Kit signing autographs for cops and offering to give them his comb.
This might be Martin Sheen's best performance. It's better than his performance in Apocalypse Now at least...
