I didn't want to respond in the other thread because it was moreless a comparison between movies.

I saw this today and really was taken back. A really powerful flick that everyone should see. It's nothing you can own and watch again and again. But it's definitely something you should see once.

I liked the fact there was no real actors in it, which made it more believable. I don't know how much of the plane stuff really took place, but it made you really cheer from the passengers even though you know the outcome.

My only complaint was the shakey camera. I get why they did it, but still.

Did anyone see this movie this weekend?

Fantastic movie. Top ten of the year for sure. Paul Greengrass is great. He'll be around for a while making quality movies I'm sure.

A couple observations.

1 - This movie did an excellent job making the people look and sound normal. People stuttered. I loved that people stuttered and said "uh" or "umm." Plus they wore clothes that didn't fit well or match. It was just great to see flaws. I can't remember a narrative movie that did such a good job at this. I believed it.

2 - It was very refreshing to see a movie that wasn't a star vehicle.

3 - This movie is a really great suspense thriller. The final scene is so great.

4 - The sound might be the best part though. Such a clusterfuck of overlapping dialogue and sounds from all over. Really great. This film wouldn't have seemed half as chaotic without the mess of noise all the time.

Go see it.

One of the first things I noticed, especially at National Air Traffic Control with the head guy.

Damn, from the getgo I kind of pegged this as cheesy/lame, but it has gotten an overwhelmingly positive response

Probably will see it sometime this week.

What would Gregg Do.

I just thought you'd be way more compassionate than those terrorists.

i'm not suprised that while watching a movie about terrorists who happen to be muslim, someone thought of me.

i'm truly quite honored.

next time, can we have a discussion on delta force so we can get this out of our system?

in all honesty though, Gregg wouldn't do didly squat b/c Gregg is not a terrorist.

Gregg believes Israel has a right to exist because at this point, there's no point in removing the jewish people from that piece of land even though the whole existence of israel was not legal or fair.

gregg does not believe in violence unless friends and family are getting hurt and gregg has no choice.

gregg doesn't want to hurt innoncent people but just the people involved in holding gregg and his people down.

gregg is talking in third person.

Gregg thinks the whole WTC and using airplanes as weapons is fucked up.

Gregg understands his people feel down and out and outright disrespected by white people and Jewish people throughout the world.

Gregg however does not advocate killing of innoncent people.

Gregg is pretty upset.

The movie's insanely intense. It's like watching an episode of 24 but near the end you realize that Jack Bauer doesn't exist.
When we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.

No offense but what a fucking joke that statement is. In America maybe, but there has been genocide going on in Liberia for awhile where 250,000+ people have been killed. How many people died in 9/11 3 or 4,000 max? Not to derail the thread but that statment was on some "stupid American" type of shit I had to say something.

btw. I have no desire whatsever to see this movie.

what? Tragedy is felt so differently when it hits home FOR ALL HUMAN BEINGS.... when your mom dies it is a FUCK of a lot different than when your neighbor's mom dies, don't try to be all politically fucking correct and say we are egotistical selfish people because 250,000 people died in a tsunami a million miles away and we care more about what happened in downtown New York.... I wept for those people in NY and in Asia but when I see my fellow American choosing which way to die by either jumping or burning to death it resonates a little more, SUE ME!!

unfortunately, tragedy is relative.
