the black keys thread

Post by intuition »

i know there are at least a few fans on this board, so let us discuss them.

anyone buy the new album "magic potion"? thoughts?

favorite album by them?

seen them live? any good?

i got their new one last week and i really like it so far after a few listens. the album i find myself listening to the most is thickfeakness, but i really fell in love with chulahoma as well.

i'm very pissed because they either just played or are about to play at the troubador and the show is/was sold out (can't remember the exact date right now).

i just recently got magic potion, and i must have played it atleat 20 times already.

i'm hestitant to call it their best cause i'm so fond of their other shit, especially The Big Come Up, and some of their b-sides, but this release is definitely a culmination off all their previous work.

magic potion is a really heavy album, with just enough slow burners in the right place to make it that much better. the only problem i have with it, it has TOO consistent of a sound, unlike say, Rubber Factory which kinda went all over the place.

i've yet to see them live though, each time they rolled through, i've never known, or sold out.

i haven't heard this yet. i will check it out though.

yeah i agree about rubberneck being all over the place, that helps to make it the album i like the least, but at the same time it has my favorite song of theirs on it (the lengths [i know i'm emo]).

yeah am really loving magic potion, but does it seem really short to you?

not sure if i'll end up picking this up.

I recently heard that album that has Junior Kimbough covers and I NEED that shit. I was loving it.

I've seen them live once, but it sucked. not them, they rocked. but their fans were all middle-aged men, who just wanted to stand there and let them rock. while I wanted to move around and get into the music.

i love love love The Big Come Up, and saw them live soon after that came out.

I need more of their stuff, i think the only other album i have is rubber factory, which wasn't anywhere near T.B.C.U.
