Your Top 5 High School Movies

Post by Raphael De La Ghetto »

Top 5, or however many you want to list, of course.
Here's a list of HS movies that might refresh your memory.

http://www.filmsite.org/50besthsfilms.html

My list:

1. Porky's
2. American Pie
3. Clueless
4. Superbad
5. 3 O'Clock High
6. Can't Hardly Wait
7. Scream
8. The Breakfast Club
9. Just One of the Guys
10. Lucas
11. Pump Up The Volume
12. My Bodyguard
13. Mean Girls
14. Dazed and Confused
15. Can't Buy Me Love

I didn't include "The Outsiders" since it seems more high school aged than it does a high school movie. Haven't seen it in a while but does one scene eve take place at a high school? (I only bring it up because it's listed on that site.)

I also left out Fast Times at Ridgemount High. I think it's a good movie, but completely over rated and not as good as the 15 I ranked. It does have probably the greatest nude scene out of any of the ones listed, though.

I also think Back to the Future is over rated, too. But still a good movie, I'd just rather watch Teen Wolf when it comes to Michael J. Fox.
Heathers is great too, and I actually enjoy movies like Dead Poets Society and School Ties, but decided to go with just a top 15.

Thats the second time today that someone has mentioned Clueless in high regard. I mean i guess its ok but even Paul Rudd isn't funny in it and Stacey Dash doesn't take her clothes off so what is the appeal here? This was my sister's favorite movie in high school. I don't get why a male would love this movie. Whatever.

Mean Girls is far superior.

In the true spirit of this thread, my legitimate top 5 would include both "Karate Kid" and "Pump Up The Volume". I can't think of much else.

LOL @ the lack of reading comprehension in this thread

Ferris Buellar's Day Off
Clueless
Dazed and Confused
American Pie
Superbad

In no order other then time, I think these were the big 5 that stand out as really having a voice that I connected with. As a young kid I think Ferris really hit home with me as the protagonist was doing what he could to escape the bullshit of parents and school and just have fun. Clueless and American Pie aren't necessarily good movies and I wouldn't watch them now but they came out at just the right times in my life that they were kind of a big deal. Dazed and Confused really connected with me as a young pothead realizing how ridiculous everything is and Superbad, which came out the year after I graduated highschool kind of summed up everything I had been through and of course, it was just funny as fuck too.

The Breakfast Club
Ferris Buellar's Day Off
Superbad
American Pie
Dazed and Confused

Not set in stone, but probably very close. Some aren't great movies, but I enjoy them for one reason or another.
