Just a terrible idea.

He should direct a movie on the Manhattan Project. I'd watch that.

Who gives a shit about the creator of Facebook?

Horrible idea. All parties involved should die. Zuckerberg is from Boca and went to a rival HS of mine. I don't want any filming in this area because it'll just create traffic issues and unnecessary guests.

I can't wait until both Myspace and Facebook loose to Twitter.

"Hi, I'm some rich kid attending Harvard who broke up with his girlfriend so I made a social networking site and made piles of money. Surely everyone can identify with that!"

Fincher is a good director and a moron. I hope he comes to his senses.

There's nothing even remotely interesting about the story of how Facebook was created. This is the stupidest fucking thing I have ever heard.

doubtfull

the story of two companies that changed the course of consumer technology and ultimately most people's daily lives isn't quite teh same as teh story of the guy that made the website for letting your friends know how wasted you got last night

What's sad is that if just 10% of the people who have fb accounts watch this in the theater, the movie will cake.

Fincher explored obsession and the limits, risks, and inherent powers of technology in Zodiac, so this script seems like it's right up his alley. I think people aren't giving him enough credit and think this will be some run-of-the-mill college kids strike it rich story. This will probably end up being a lot better, and about a lot more, than some of you expect. I'm not too excited about Timberlake being in this, but Eisenberg has some chops.

if fincher can create a tracking shot that follows a disastrous status update from the fingers of the person who made it all the way to facebookfail.com he will instantly become the greatest film maker of all time

As the NIN Hotline points out, today, the Nine Inch Nails website's news feed featured a message from Trent Reznor announcing that he and longtime collaborator Atticus Ross have written the score for David Fincher's new film The Social Network, which is about the founding of Facebook. It stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, and Justin Timberlake.

Reznor writes, "I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story. When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned." He also mentions that he and Ross are currently in the process of "distilling the large amount of music we've written for this down to a satisfying record (or two)." He adds, "The film opens October 1 in the U.S. with the record likely available a couple of weeks ahead of that."

Reznor calls the film "really fucking good. And dark!" I gotta admit, I'm extremely curious to see how Fincher turns the story of a bunch of nerds sitting at computers into something that Trent Reznor considers "dark."
