they are calling it the best rpg on xbox by far.
it will have to freaking amazing to better oblivion if you ask me, but i will definitely be giving it a go.
right now is a very, very good time to be a 360 owner.
im nearly finished bioshock, skate is absolutely brilliant and i didnt stop playing that until i got pgr4, now that is sucking up all my free time.

One of my most anticipated games this year.
Shit, we got Assassin's Creed, Kane & Lynch, Mario Galaxy and Call Of Duty 4 before year-end.
It's good to be a gamer this year.

I want a 360 just for this game, KOTOR was dope, and I'm sure Mass Effect is even better. BioWare is a dope studio, I just hope EA doesn't interfere now that they own them.

Can't fucking wait. Gonna read the novel before I get the game even though it's not supposed to be good just so I can know more about the game world.

93% average score
It seems like the general consensus is the story and presentation are incredible and without equal, but there are a lot of bugs and glitches and the combat is lackluster. Plus the phrase "you're like Jack Bauer in space" makes me more excited than anything else.

sounds like any bioware game ive ever played. jade empire anyone?

^ Yeah pretty much. I thought the combat systems in KOTOR and Jade Empire were fine though. I actually liked KOTOR's system more and have fond memories of it. It perfectly supplemented the rest of the game. Jade Empire 's system was pretty appealing on paper but ended up being sort of boring. They tried to do too much. But in both cases it was mostly irrelevant and inconsequential to me overall. I play these games for the dialogue, atmosphere, story, exploration aspects and everything else...not for in depth combat. I trust Bioware implicitly with my only reservation being that KOTOR and Jade Empire were very similar style and concept wise. If the Mass Effect team rehauled the whole entire system like it seems it has, I will be in bliss.

from my experience so far it seems this game is a slow burn (which are often the best..burns)
the story, combat etc. wasn't too enticing to me at first but as you play the game gets it's hooks in and becomes very enthralling. The story seems to be pretty sophisticated and well thought out with plenty of surprises in store. I'm looking forward to progressing through it and putting my own stamp on things. The dialogue is very fluid and realistic and the game dfeels genuine. These portions of the game are done so well that I know it will be a satisfying ride until the end. From what I have played the game seems to move along at a steady and mature pace. I respect it for not catering to the a.d.d. crowd and filling space with needless battles or action sequences. Time will tell if it will lead to a satisfying conclusion though. I have a feeling it will. Like I said, it's seems to be a slow burn and I have faith that this game will reward patience greatly.
The interface system is needlessly confusing though and not very intuitive at all. hampers things a decent amount. also, I haven't gotten much satisfaction out of trying or finding different types of items or armor yet. I haven't encountered anything dynamic or exciting at all in regards to that. It's all been pretty generic. I hope this changes because a huge part of my enjoyment of past bioware games that I have played has been customizing my character with all the cool shit in the game world.

To cast aside my hyperbole, the atmosphere and dialogue has gripped me from the start. I agree that the combat isn't the greatest, but given BioWare's track record, this isn't suprising (Although I really loved Jade Empire). However, the story has pulled me right in. Plus, nothing is greater than putting the screws to a tiny cyborg alien.

so i'm about 10 hours into this and it wasn't till I played through the first planet quest that I realize how huge this game is, I got a ton of sidequests built up not to mention the main story and it all kind of feels overwhelming.
After a couple hours with the combat system I think it's dope, easily the best Bioware has done and a lot more fun than most other rpg's. I chose the Infiltrator class and besides the sniper rifle being pretty useless all the engineering and tech skills are great in the beginning of the game, in most fights I'm mainly disabling baddies and letting my squad clean em up.
and obviously the story so far is dope, I'm gonna be logging a lot of hours in this game.

Yeah I kinda wish I went with a techie sort of character because I already have encountered a few things I couldn't hack and that annoys me, but Vanguard (solider/biotic) is cool too. Throwing enemies around is fun.
What makes this game exceptional is the dialogue and conversations. I'm not sure I've played a game that felt quite so real before. In KOTOR I would mull over choices because they a) proposed a conflict of interest on what I was trying to do with my character b) I wanted to make the most "fun" choice or c) because that is the nature of a choice and I have that scrutinizing sort of personality
In Mass Effect I mull things over because I actually care about the characters and how my choices affect them. It's all done very fluidly and feels very natural as well. Most characters I have encountered feel real and not like they exist just to entertain me for the amount of time I have to interact with them. The conversations flow freely and without any heavy handedness.
After reading through some of the codex, Bioware has created a deep and compelling game world to play in and learn about. I was never a big Star Wars fan, but this feels as epic. Lots of interesting races and interplay and history between those races. It's exciting to jump into a world that feels so new, yet so established at the same time.
We have come along way since "the princess is in another castle". I think this game sets a new benchmark for strong storytelling and thematic elements in games. It falters in other areas (combat, interface), but it's strengths far, far transcend them.

Really love this game. Last few days I'm just planet hopping and doing side missions because I'm trying to rinse every ounce of content I can get out this game before I complete the main quest because I have a terrible feeling I won't get to complete them once the main quests are over like previous Bioware games.

I don't think you can train a weapon unless your class allows you to use them. I am currently Vanguard and the class only allows for pistols and shotguns. So unless your class allows for a weapon, you can't train in them.

Yeah! I'm beginning to think certain weapons are just like armor - class dependent.
