Best hockey game of all time?

Post by Tariq's Dilemma »

I would say NHL 94.

I was god at this game. I could score with the triple deak, around the back of the net or using the one time.

Montreal was my team, no one could fuck wit Roy.

anyother contenders?

'93 through '95 were golden, but 95 was my shit. I forget but did they introduce create-a-player in 94 or 95? I thought it was the coolest thing ever when I created a team with all my friends on it and played through an entire season demolishing every team in my path. And the end of the season awards ceremony was awesome as well.

nhl 95 takes a dump on all other hockey games

it was too easy to score in 94, and although it was a revolutionary game, 95 took things to the next level.

an argument could also be made for 96, but it wasn't nearly as groundbreaking as far as animations and general smoothness of control

94 was the first one with one-timers, right? One-timers changed the game entirely, that was the big step forward. Doug Gilmour was invincible in that game, it was ill.

95 polished it all up, but 94 got soooo much more play.

Honourable mention: Blades of Steel. It was fun in arcade way.

Brett Hull Hockey was alright, and it was the first one with play by play.

I almost forgot. Wayne Gretzky had a hockey game for N64 that was REALLY dope. It was 2 on 2 hockey and very arcadey. I think it was made by Midway because it was like the hockey NBA Jam style...

Ice Hockey was dope, I still play it.
Blades of Steel was great too, but I traded it for my beloved Rolling Thunder when i was a kid.
NHL 94 was dope. i disliked '95 but '96 was the shit.
I think that was the first game you could make trades in.
Wayne Gretzky's 3D hockey was dope too.
NHL 2002 was really dope for PS2 aswell. I played that shit sooo much.
There was also an arcade game that i never saw for any systems that I used to play all the time. I forget what is was called, but it was dope as fuck.

I always thought NHL 2001 for PS2 was mad slept on. Great graphics, game speed, checks, and Bill Clement!

I won the cup (with a fake team) and the ceremony was rele cool.

94 was the shit for sure. one timers and pat lafontaine common.
95' had a really sheap way to score where u skate to the red goal line and shoot and it woukd go in everytime.
worst one was 98' they tried to come out with some new graphics shit and completley ignored the game play.

Word to whoever called out 2001, last year I played that shit all the time!

It has a ton of flaws in the gameplay, but for some reason that makes it even more dope.

Toronto is my team in that shit, their D line s :ohsh:

94 was my favourite by far, although I'll admit 95 was probably better.
We used to get together and have crazy tournaments, my teams were the Blackhawks and the Canucks. We used to shit talk each other so much, it was hilarious.

Also, 94 didn't have fights, but 95 did making it that much better.

nhl 95 was my shit. No one could fuck with me. I used to run with the Red Wings. Fedorov was sick in that game.
