Do any of you have a Sega Nomad?

Post by Galvatron78 »

I'm thinking about getting one because it makes perfect sense....I know you can hook it up to a TV but how does the battery pack work?

I always wanted one as a kid, but now that the price of a Nomad is like 5x the price of a regular sega genesis, it seems kinda pointless.

I never knew anyone who ever had one of these btw.

Yeah I have one  . I was thinking 'bout selling it awhile back, but then got into playing it again and realized how cool it is. I actually lost the battery pack a long time ago, but if I remember correctly, it attaches to the back of the Nomad and uses AA batteries. I'm guessing that the battery doesn't last very long though, 'cause the backlit display uses a lot of power.

You can use a regular Genesis AC adapter and Genesis AV cord which is pretty cool though. Plus, you can attach a Genesis controller to the Nomad to play 2-player games, which is dope as fuck.

good luck

I always wanted to get one of these, but it was well out of my price range at the time.

fair warning to anyone looking to buy a nomad - it's a great concept but not that well executed. for one thing, it freezes like a motherfucker a lot and the battery pack is gigantic. pretty much limited to sitting at home and playing it perfectly still, in which case i usually felt like i might as well play genesis.

i had one and i sold it about a year ago, i don't regret it at all.

because I was trying to take an extremely serious picture and I only had one picture left on the roll of digital pictures

I wanted to prove to the world that I did indeed own a TurboExpress w/TurboTuner. I could only find 2 games. I was nervous that I wouldnt be accepted

i closed my eyes

because the overwhelming urge to prove that you did indeed own a TurboExpress w/TurboTuner outweighed any possible reprecussions that might result from losing internet anonymity.

I had no problems with freezing when using the rechargeable pack...locks on solid and you didn't have to hold still at all. It would freeze all the time plugged into the AC however.
