Ghetto-Style Game Reviews Observation " KOF 94' "

Post by Galvatron78 »

Dowhutchyalike.....duh duh duh duh duh duh....Capcom likes to bite duh duh duh duh duh duh.......

- Hello and fuck all you haters and hoes that don't give head....this is G'Tron78 back in your mouth with a different review this time it's more like a obersavation and a look of retrospect into one of my favorite game series ever King Of Fighters or as us O.G.'s call it KOF. Let's go back to the days of 1991 when Street Fighter dominated the game room for quite some time, you know knowbody really gave a fuck about Street Fighter 1 (I guess it was the 1 second delay on the Hurricane Kicks). A lil' company called SNK which wasn't new to the gaming industry decided to try their hands at te fighting game industry by creating a game called Fatal Fury (or as Smooth Lou heard it FATAL FU!!!). Fatal Fury was far from perfect like everyone expected it to be, the graphics were dope (especially the season changes and such) but the control and character developments left a lot to be desired. The game kinda slipped under the ardar and SNK tried again with another franchise called Art Of Fighting and SNK (as much as I hate to admit it) really bit the fuck out of Capcom characters and likenesses (Ryo= Ryu....John Crawley = Guile).....later on SNK stepped their games up with Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury 2 and AOF 2 their characters started to grow legs and personality.

SNK employee: I got this ill ass idea....how about team play?
SNK of America : Where's your big name license
SNK Employee : *sighs*

- Reading about the development of this wondeful thing in GAMEFAN i thought for sure this shit would be vaporware but SNK dropped KOF 94' in the October of 1994 and i remember vivdly hearing about and only one place in my town had it (Mazzio's pizza) and coincidentally my mom wanted to eat some pizza and bet your ass i had got a gang of change ready to catch wreck somethng vicious. I get there and see the machine and almost shitting on myself all i could say was "what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!"

The game had multiple characters incorporated from their previous games (Mavel vs. Capcom.....*cruuuuuuuunch* BITE IT) such as Ralf and Clark and Heidern from Ikari Warriors (why in the US version they were referred to as Paul and Vince?) .....Athena (cheap bitch) Asimaya from Psycho Soldier and Sie Kensou from the same game.....and the AOF boys and girls RYO Robert and Yuri and Takauma and King and of course Fatal Fury's crew of Andy Joe and Mai.....I thought it could get no better than this......let it be known before you can unhinge your cocksuckin' jaws from Capcoms nuts SNK WAS THE FIRST TO HAVE SUPERMOVES IN ADDITION TO TEAM PLAY!!! Okay yeah Capcom made it tag-out styled play but SNK did the 3-on 3 shit first.....The game was hard as two fucks and the story line (when you weren't getting your ass beat) sucked you in. This game also birthed the apperance of bad-ass Kyo Kusangi.....

- SNK created a monster with this amd pioneered a whole new style of gameplay for instance they incorporated he use of 4 buttons instead of six and you have a meter to charge to perform your super moves instead of cheaping away to add to your meter.......sadly this game wasn't too well recieved in the states and it was eclipsed by SFII's success which is a damn shame because other than the damage levels for combos I couldn't really say anything bad about it ( I didn't get really good at the series until 97')

- Overall I think this game is a big landmark in fighting game history...I could name you a shitload of games that came out after SF and just tried to emulate and didn't add anything extra but KOF said "fuck that shit" and took a big piss in the fighting game pond and of course they were duplicated by Capcom (but Capcom emulated and improved so i ain't mad at em')......History in the making damnit.....it never made it to home systems until 95' came out and they did a re-release of it and but only in Japan (thanks U.S.!!!).....I'm out fuck 3-d stiff fighting games and I hope you all get your boxes modded and play some eal shit......later
