DVD burning help

I have DVD2ONEX and DVDBACKUP...according to the instructions I got off of a tutorial site, I'm supposed to play it and skip through all the chapters in DVDPLAYER then rip it with DVDBACKUP....after that in DVD2ONEX you are supposed to decide if you want the whole thing ripped or MOVIE ONLY...I usually just choose movie only so I can keep the quality. Anyways when DVD2ONEX is processing the files it gets anywhere from 10% to 60% to 25% and then it just says its done, and lo and behold I have about 10%50% etc. of the movie in a burnable file. What am I doing wrong? is there a better way? I have a G5 MAC with Tiger....
