Found out about while reading http://cybersnot.com/
The quick version of this:
Say my gmail address is BathtubGirl@gmail.com. I'm signing up for something and I have to give them my email. If they give out my email address, I can trace back any email they send me by using plus addressing.
So when I sign up, I use the email BathtubGirl+philaflava@gmail.com. So when PhilaFlava sends me email, it gets sent to my normal account, but I can see that it was sent to BathtubGirl+philaflava. And when I start getting spam sent to BathtubGirl+philaflava@gmail.com, I know it's PhilaFlava who whored out my email.
Cool feature.
