Bittorrent

Post by Useff »

Bittorrent is a way to share files across networks in an efficient manner.

It is very easy to use.

You download a .torrent file, and from there you are connected to that torrent's tracker, which manages the connections between you and the peers who are using that torrent. Peers upload pieces of the files they need to each other.

A seeder is a person who has 100% of a file, and only uploads on a torrent. Seeding is encouraged.

Bittorrent Clients

Original Bittorrent
Bitcomet
Azureus
BitTornado

Oh man, a couple of days ago I spent a bunch of hours configuring my bit torrent ports (I'm not computer savvy), shit was hectic.

I can't remember exactly, but I think it's from right after where the anime leaves off. Not sure of the volume number.

What media player are you using? I know that videolan and media player classic both have good subtitle support.

link: Tweaking your system to get the most out of BitTorrent

Why does the hyperlink use the same color as normal text?

It doesn't, only when it's a link you've already visited.

And this is really obnoxious, but only for the person doing the linking because you've obviously been to the site before, and then you think the link "didn't take" or something.

It bothers me every time.

Why do I want it?
Well, it's really easy to use after configuring (you basically visit a website, set it, and forget it), and its popularity has skyrocketed, which has in turn dramatically increased the volume of available material being distributed on bittorrent trackers. Maybe you don't want it. Fuck you.

lmao,that's fucking great.

I meant to post several addendums to this, but never got around to it.

Basically, Bittorrent is a great way to distribute and share shit.

download and install the client
visit the webpage
click the link, whcih will open the torrent
select where you want to save it
wait for it to finish
leave your torrent app open so you can continue to seed, thus keep alive, the torrents so everyone else can download

its really very simple

30 seeders, 80 DLers

but the ones with 1000 seeders never seem to even connect, it says

"Problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error (10061.'connection refused')>

I think that if you've got 30 seeders and 80 DLers you should have a pretty high speed for at least a little while, until you've caught up to the other DLers. The error you get sounds like a shitty tracker to me. Maybe you should read some other, more in-depth faqs on the subject.

you should configure your torrent client to use non default ports..ISPs can throttle traffic on certain ports..once you config the client, open those ports in your firewall
