Rae wins. Why ?

He may very well be the best swordsman in the clan. Arguable till the day we all die. But possible.

On the flipside: I watched the Alchemist doc the other day where they show them creating Hold you down.. great segment.. Mobb has some certified classic tracks...

but I'm a WU guy.

in these polls i always thought you should vote on who was better at the top of their game...not by who fell off the hardest or catalog size ect...

I bet the outcome would be different if this was posted in M2C.

Which is another reason why I love T.R.O.Y.

I voted prodigy...

surprised he isnt getting more love

when he was at his best 95-97 very very few were fucking with him...

even though I think cuban linx is a better album than infamous and hell on earth, that has far more to do with ghohstface and rza than it does with rae...and thats not me overlooking raekwon I just think prodigy was a little nicer

People here get sucked into current hype so easily. Raekwon cannot handle a solo album. Prodigy has done that, and lyrically carried a duo that has put out 2 undeniable classics. Prodigy is just the better emcee.

Agreed. I was pretty damn surprised at first to see how lopsided it was after voting for P.

Fuck this is hard. Prodigy's work on the Infamous and Hell On Earth is about as good as it gets. Songs like Q.U. - Hectic, Apostle's Warning, Cradle To The Grave and Hell On Earth would be hard for any emcee to stack up against. However, Raekwon has done things that no else has even attempted. He's a pioneer in every sense of the word and has contributed to numerous classics. He's my vote.

I do this for barber shop niggaz in the Plaza
Catchin asthma, Rae is stickin gun-flashers
Well-dressed, skatin through the projects wit big ones
Broke elevators, turn the lights out, stick one
upstairs, switch like a chameleon
Hit Brazilians, pass the cash or leave your children
Leave the buildin
Niggaz, yo they be foldin' like envelopes under pressure
Like Lou Farigno on coke
Yo, Africans denyin niggaz up in yellow cabs
Musty like funk, wavin they arms, the Arabs
Sit back, coolin like Kahlua's on rocks
On the crack spots, rubberband wrapped on my knots
You bitches who fuck dreds on Sudafeds
Pussy's hurtin, they did it for a yard for the Feds
Word up cousin, nigga, I seen it
Like a 27-inch Zenith - believe it!

2 of my favourite all time mc's.

personally i gotta go with rae, if only because he actually had some genuinely uplifting songs and tried to drop knowledge in amongst his crime raps.

Always prefered their group work and considering that I voted Rae. It's a close call though.

Prodigy didn't make "Sneakers", Raekwon did = why Raekwon wins.

To be honest, I don't really stay totally abreast of either of their more recent output, but i'm still far more likely to cop a new Raekwon album/mixtape than a Prodigy or Mobb Deep one. He's definitely compromised himself far less - G-Unit tattoos?? - and still seems to able to drop something that at the very least hints at hs former greatness.

'PJs with El Michels', 'Baggage Handlers', 'State Of Grace', 'RAGU' and 'Kilos' off the last Ghost album... A steady stream of great tracks. Prodigy could have retired years ago and I honestly don't think i'd have noticed.

Don't front on those two recent Prodigy/Alchemist tracks "Mac 10 Handle" and "N.Y Shit" from their upcoming mixtape, though, Yak.

Both were dirty and nihilistic with raw blaxploitation funk beats. Two of the nicest tracks from last year.

'N.Y. Shit' is the track with the Biggie sample? Actually yeah, I did like that - although not really 'cos of Prodigy.

Yeah, it had parts from both the Biggie and 2pac 'Garden freestyles as the chorus.

"Mac 10 Handle" was the one with the "My Mind's Playing Tricks On Me" interpolating chorus with the same sample Ice T used on "High Rollers" where lil' P was sitting around in a dirty ass room watching Hard Boiled on tv and playing with his pistols.
