I voted It's about even - both albums boast superior production and great flows - can't call it but Bent called it right.

This thread has inspired me to listen to "black cop" and "outta here".

this shit is like asking me which child i like best....it's a gotdamn tie man.....anytime a mufucka can flip the "Duke of Earl" sample they get attention from me instantly. I remember it was a dude that dissected all of the samples in "How i could just Kill a man" and that's when i wanted to start making making beats. Muggs showed his ass on that album....."P is Still Free" is one of my favorite Primo beats ever and "Black Cop" still makes folks over 25 jump at my gigs. Damn......makes me feel like a Freshman again.

Return of the Boom Bap, no doubt. Not that Cypress Hill is bad or anything, but I can't bring myself to listen to any of their tapes all the way through.

One interesting thing that these albums share in common despite a maniacal hatred for cops: both have moments of near goofiness and yet manage not come off too corny, even epitomizing ruggedness at the time.

I really can't call it.

Return Of The Boom-Bap still rumbles jeeps and playgrounds today
My cd is mixed real quiet. Is there a remaster of this? Criminal minded got the remaster, all the old BDP albums need it.

2nd best KRS vs. 2nd best Cypress. The intro (probably top5 intro ever), Slick Rick & "Maaaad" sample and Sound of Da Police make Boom Bap my choise.

PP: What did Prince Paul had to do with this album ? (ok he remixed Latin Lingo but that was about 5 years later )

Prince Paul remixed Latin Lingo the same year it was just a B-side.

I gave it to KRS. I'm still amazed at how he used his voice to blend "officer/overseer" - that's one of the most brilliant emceeing performances that people rarely talk about. His talent as a vocalist is unmatched in hip hop. He drops so many styles and effortlessly segues from storytelling, "you can't fuck with Kris" tracks, searing social critiques, etc. Of all his albums, I think it's the most representative of the many sides of Kris Parker.

Both albums, however, are no-discussion classics.

I can't really call it.
But when the race war comes, I'll choose Cypress.

Both great albums, 'Cypress Hill' is more consistent though.

My bad. Only heard the remix on Unreleased adn Revamped (1996) but still, did Prince Paul had anything more with this album ?

I could have sworn Prince Paul did something on the album. Maybe I was misled.

naw man i think we might be thinking about the B-side to "Stoned is the way"...i think i need to make a rare remixes and a "Why the fuck did you leave it off of the album" thread.

Isn't it on the 'I Like It Like That' soundtrack with Fat Joe, Main One and K7 (DADANG DADANG DADANG DADADADANGDANG!)?

Cypress hill is cool and all, but aside from 'How I could Just Kill a Man,' nothing on it sounds as fresh to me today as the KRS joint does.
