The bad thing about this album is that Time's Up is such a good song that it makes the rest of the album look blahzey, blahzey.
Consistency is what makes Jewelz a better album to me.

You guys are kidding right? As much as I love JEWELZ, WORD...LIFE is nothing short of a masterpiece. I will upload if I get a chance, later tonight. There is not one song I skip on WL and OC really painted vivid pictures with his rhymes. Buckwild laced the hell out of this.

there are two types of listeners:
those who say jewelz > word life
and those who say word life > jewelz
this very simple opinion speaks volumes upon what type of hiphop head you are (sorry for the use of the term "hiphop head"). although, there is nothing wrong with either type. just noting the difference.
me?
jewelz.

I think you're on to something, but I'd appreciate it if you could expand on this a bit.

i honestly think this album is pretty close to Illmatic.....both released around the same time.
some may call it blasphemy but its how i feel about it. lyrically o.c. was right there with nas on this album....he was way ahead of his time; however, saddly enough time has caught up to Mush. hes always been one of my favorite emcees, i just hope he still got a lil sumthin left in the tank. That Starchild joint was ok...not great, but better than Bon Appetite.
But back to Word...Life.........that shit is definitely classic......jus listen to the way he penned those stories....shit was amazing

Word...Life is amazing. I can't hear whoever said it's not consistent, because that's exactly what it is. O.C thrived in that dusty jazzy gritty vibe of 1994 D.I.T.C. era Buckwild, and song after song he just keeps ripping it. One of the most unique flows, illest voices and sharpest lyricists ever. It's been a slight downhill since, but O.C is definitely in my personal top 15 and Word...Life is the album that put him there.
Jewelz on the other hand. While I have no problem listening to W...L in its entirety, Jewelz is the inconsistent one in that the production is less enjoyable overall. Save for the Primo banger of course, and a couple others, most of the beats are simply way too clean (typical for a lot of 1997 hip hop). I don't really care for that sound, it's agitating to the ears and boring, so I often end up reaching for Word...Life again instead.

Word...life is a better album than jewelz. I didnt even like Jewelz when i first heard it but now i think its pretty good. Word life is a near classic. Jewelz has a lot of bangin tracks but it also has a bunch of tracks that i skip thru all the time like "dangerous" and "its only right". I'm not that big fan of " the crow" either. They are both good albums and some days i ratehr listen to Word...Life over Jewelz and some days its vice-versa.

You don't like Dangerous?
L and OC both rip that track.

I cant get around the terrible beat. It makes it unlistenable to me.

Word...Life all day...
and night.
it is a dope ass nightime album...
it just FEELS classic.
Jewellz is a lil to 1997clean-but-not-slumpin for my tastes, but it is an ill ass album no doubt.
