NON PHIXION The Past The Present & The Future Is Now Mix

Post by Kool Max Power »

Back in 2000 when I received a Matador promo package including the NP mixtape, my walkman ate lots of great tapes, so I immediately transferred it to CD for longevity. Just listened to it, and it still sounds great.

Complete package w/ split tracks and artwork.

Enjoy!

HAHAAA, I honestly was just about to post asking whether this was the green tape. I'm sure the gawd Eclipse remembers when me and my boy used to harrass him for that green tape since years before this finally was sort of released.
Dope shit. It was basically the album they were supposed to release on Geffen or whatever, but with a bunch of extra shit. Afaik or remember.

EDIT: so yeah, not the same tape. And it wasn't actually green, just the bright neon green cover and clear tape, iirc.

The tape is basically a mix/blend of all their 12 inches and radio promos up until that point. It is significantly different from the CD that came out years later.

And Verge, the tape was black.

I actually got mine from Non Phixion themselves when they came to the station I DJ'ed at in 99. Ill Bill also wrote "I fucked Nancy." on my friend's "I Shot Reagan" 12".

^Hah @ Odnet. Yeah I think the one me and Galvatron are talking about was a clear tape with no writing on it with a green cover. Pretty sure there was a few unreleased demos on it or joints that came out later. I think my boy first had it in maybe 95 or 96 and then again Eclipse hit us with another one in maybe 2001? Not positive, but the other one was from around when their first never released album would have dropped.

Nes, fellow TROY poster and 90's college radio tape extraordinaire, put up a dope interview with Eclipse the other day at Dirtywaters:

There was just one mix on tape and that was referred to as "the green tape", although the tape was actually black. The cover however was bright ass green which we kept for the cover of the Black Helicopters 12". Actually the tape was done right before that single dropped. The tape was not an album nor supposed to be. It was just a collection of all the older singles we had done, some demos we knew we weren't using on the album and some radio appearances. Hence the name Past, Present & Future as we wanted to familiarize people with our work over the years and prepare them for the album.

"The Green CD' was sparked off the green tape, but we decided to redo the mix so it would be different from what we had already put out there. Also, the idea at that time was to release 3 volumes of The Green CD which would have included all the past releases we ever put out, demos and radio appearances. That way people who were fans of NP prior to "The Future Is Now" would have a chance to have all the original material on cd. Who knows...maybe one day I'll finish the other two volumes.
