Someone here uploaded this awhile back.

So I have no idea and would also like to know.

^ Seriously, this has been bugging me too. I KNOW I heard this before and most likely have the mp3 on my computer. Hmm Verge, anything else you can remember? Like how many mcs on the cut? I'm drawing a blank here.

I was just listening to an old WBLS Chuck Chillout show and there was a track that I know but can't think who the artist is off the top of my head

the lyrics are "Aint nothing but a party y'all", the beat is kind of hard and the names Jam Master and Cool something get mentioned

Cool C?

One emcee. Kind of a skinny higher pitched voice.
"Its so hard livin, but I'm scared to die,
cause I never been past those clouds in the sky.
Dying to live, living to die.
Crying these tears til my well runs dry."

That's all I can remember. I definitely have it ripped on CD and I definitely
downloaded from here. Or it is possible that it was from that compilation that
ral put together over the summer on his indie cratez blog.
But I'm pretty sure I got it from here over a year ago.

I'm gonna scour the CDs in my truck tonight and if I find it, I'll put the CD
back in the computer and it should be labeled already, I hope. But I
literally have hundreds of ripped CDs from the internet in my truck.
So, I definitely can't promise anything.

wallysnaps, I suggest you check at least most of the records on that label.
Mass Vinyl. Almost every record is fuckin dope.
http://www.discogs.com/label/Mass+Vinyl+Recordings

Start off with these three:
MV 1596 Hi-Tech (2) Book Of Life (12") 1996
MV 1597 Various Collectors Edition Vol. 1 (12") 1996
MV 111094 Parallax (9) Don't Mean Jak / Bleeding Hate (12") 1994

If you need help finding them, let me know.
DJ Mike Nice says he found the lost Hi Tech album that never dropped or
leaked, so keep an eye out for that, too.
Wow I havent thought about this dude in years....I may have layin around the crib a tape of me and Tech freestyin back when we were in school. It's proably long gone from my many moves in life though. :(

Thanks again guys...I'll take 2 out of 3 even though that Forte joint is a bitch to find (other than the interlude). Round 2:

Paging Ho1ogramz for that second track. Pretty dope.
So many femcees sound the same to me, I can't call it, sorry.

Third one is Roc Marciano. It's from this seemingly impossible to find EP named:
Noose PRoductions EP- Kuku Productions, song title: "The Prophesy"
So great. I know of someone who has the record but hasn't shared it yet.

EDIT: There's also two other pretty good mixes of that song on that record.
Here, check it:

^^They mention Chilltown (Jersey City) so that's where they rep. It sounded like they said "Ancients" but it doesn't sound like them...

Anyway, at the risk of seeming ignant, can anybody ID this Rakim track?

It's a remix to "The Saga Begins", no clue who did it though sorry.

:icedit: it could be the unreleased Pete Rock Remix

:icedit: it's not a Pete Rock remix, I'm asking around, so far no one seems to know.

What kills me is that I probably had the info at some point but left it unidentified.

That is not pete. I can't give 100% proof but I can easily tell. Don't come close to pete's style or sound. Pete is not sloppy with his arrangements & his sounds are not that weak, not to say this beat is in any way. Hopefully the true producer will be credited but I'd bet my house on it that this is not a soul brother production.

Yeah, I don't think it's Pete because the drums don't sound like his.
Just my thoughts..

EDIT: Also, I mentioned last night in those youtube comments that the
sample sounds like the same sample that used for a track that the hook
went something like,"..let yo inner light shine, let yo inner mind shine.."
or something like that. Anybody got a clue about that one?
I'm pretty sure I have the sample here, too. Matter fact, I think a few
people sampled that shit.

Another one I'm trying to ID has a chorus that goes:

Thanks, aleph! Wow, that Y=Self track is bananas. I've never heard that.
The second cat rhyming definitely has a Rakim vibe, but still great.

Sorry, I have no idea on any of these. The last two sound like straight demo bangers.
The last track, all I know is the sample. Someone else used it and then
that One Be Lo cat used it again years later.
Roy Ayers - The Black Five (you'll also notice the dope Legion Groove
sample in the intro which Large Pro used again a couple years ago)

Yeah Verge, you're probably right about them being demos. Slim to no chance of IDing them. 9 out of 10 x the people who originally played them don't remember either. And I got a few more too.

The second guy rhyming might be this:

^^Hmmm, I'd believe it.

Nice single, and with DR Period on the boards to boot.

Thanks

My mind is saying it's a demo track by Da Noe Doe Network! Doesn't he mentioned "Rock" in the track? Or maybe I am wrong. I do find some simularities though.

What you say?

I am speaking about the "Y = Self" track of course.

From listening to Once Upon A Time, definitely not them.

The first emcee says "Papa Andre" or "Potna Andre" which may refer to his "potna" or himself.
