Fat Joe "represent" vs "jealous ones envy
The topic stems from the O.C. argument people were having about which was better, word...life or jewelz. Both these fat joe albums were near classic or classic albums in some peoples minds. When i first heard J.O.E. i liked it better than "represent" but have since changed my mind. Represent is grimier and features classic production from DITC legends like showbiz, lord finesse and Diamond D. I dont skip any tracks maby except for "shorty gotta fat ass". My fav track off represent would have to be " another wild nigga from the bronx". J.O.E. had a lot of wicked tracks too but wasnt as rugged at represent IMO. Primo laced a couple of tracks. The "Firewater" would have made J.O.E. classic.

What's to discuss? Represent was incredible, from bangers like Flow Joe, one of the most grimy evil posse cuts with Kool G Rap and Apache laced by Diamond D and Shorty Gotta Fat Ass is hardly skippable material, I find it dope. That's not to dismiss J.O.E since thats still a great album but his debut surpasses it.

I prefer "j.o.e" personally
"represent" has some fine tracks but it's patchy.
"J.o.e" i can listen to most all the way through aside from the track that samples "sexual healing" (although that "jingle jewels in the faces of past enemies, eat yer heart out, son, you never was a friend of me" line is ill) and the shitty, pointless remix of "success".
Joe got Armageddon ghost-writing for him on "j.o.e" so it's lyrically better
and the beats were a step in a different moodier direction with a lot of Axelrod loops
some of the most slept-on Diamond D beats you'll ever hear with "bronx tale", "respect mine" and "watch out"
Joe and Krs talkin' shit and passin' the mic on "bronx tale"
the bananas Pun debut verse on "watch out" with Keith Nut reppin' too
dope Domingo production like "say word" and "success"
and the incredible Primo remix of "shit is real".

I like J.O.E. too, but my favorite moments from the two records are almost all on Represent. Kool G Rap goes off on "You Must Be Out Your Fucking Mind"clark bent wrote:represent is clearly better

Is this hiphop? Hell no, this is war.
I've been trying to tell you that since How About Some Hardcore.
