Re: Now Era stuff you might like (older artists and newer)
Another great album just dropped digitally. I really hope CD copies will become available, or even better... VINYL!!
Makebelieve and IMF are pleased to present 90 NOW, the new album by talented young emcee & producer A.Y.E. The album is a truly authentic tribute to the beats, style, slang and aura of 90's Hiphop.
Listen/DL: http://makebelievehiphop.bandcamp.com/album/90-now
Btw, it's a FREE album, but since you gotta give them your e-mail address and have them e-mail you a link, I'll make it easier and provide you with my link...
DL: www.sendspace.com/file/lllbna (320 quality - 112mb)
^The only thing I did to the album was tag everything properly.

Re: Now Era stuff you might like (older artists and newer)

Check out the new album by Cali trio Revolutionary Rhythm. If they came out in '93 I think they would be a challenge to Souls Of Mischief as far as mic skill, storytelling, persona and style of putting their songs together.

i found this gem a couple of days ago, check:
https://veks.bandcamp.com/album/words-eye-view
also check these UK guys:
i really liked their album, "Hot Water Music"
Last but not least, this HexOne & BBZ Darney album called "String Theory" is VERY dope.

Veks MC & Found MC are APES OF GRAF. Together we bring you a classic LP straight from the past of the present in the future back to the present. The sound we bring you in this album I would say is a reminiscent sound of the 90's golden era of Hip Hop, dummy its raw underground hip hop for all you b-boys and graff cats walkin down the street with a boombox on yo shoulder.. stick this in the tapedeck playa's.

Kid needs to go mine the 90's beat archives of D.I.T.C. like Celph Titled did for Nineteen Ninety Now, I think his flow and that sound would be a great pair. I admire the skill, maturity and social awareness this teen shows on the mic.

Just like to recommend everything involving anyone from the Bankai Fam click. Azaia, astronote, shinigami (I forgot the full name), there's a few of them. Really dope beats and ok ruggedish rhymes.

There's some good stuff on this new Unkut mixtape. There's an Omniscence track on there I remixed, but I also like the Milano, Grand Daddy IU and Craig G songs amongst others.

A few years old but I still keep it in rotation: "Breakfast" by Ryan Perfect. Good vibes to motivate you to begin a new day featuring a new and more elaborate production sound by Lord FInesse.
Some raw sounding joints: Devastating Tito & Mikey D'Struction - "Got'm Say'n Hey" (prod. by Large Professor) and the new J-Zone single
I expect great things lyrically from the new Army Of The Pharoahs LP, snippets are up on iTunes.

Re: Now Era stuff you might like (older artists and newer)
The new Joey Bada$$ album "B4.DA.$$" drops Tuesday 01/20/2015... but it has leaked as of Thursday 01/15/2014.

What a GREAT fuckin album!! Of the 17 tracks, I don't care for 2 of them...
12. Escape 120 (feat. Raury) = Ehhh... not my taste at all.
17. Teach Me (feat. Kiesza) = Doesn't fit the album at all and I just don't care for it. Good for daytime Pop radio I guess? haha
My favorite joints...
03. Paper Trail$ (Prod. by DJ Premier)
04. Piece Of Mind (Prod. by Freddie Joachim)
05. Big Dusty (Prod. by Kirk Knight)
06. Hazeus View (Prod. by Kirk Knight)
07. Like Me feat. BJ The Chicago Kid (Prod. by J Dilla & The Roots)
So whatever happened to the Pete Rock produced joint????????
I removed the two tracks I didn't like and added the two Joey joints from Statik Selektah's album from a few months ago. Here's my burned CD version for the car...
I got the Double Vinyl LP on order from Fat Beats...

^^^^^ Agreed!
Solid release by Joey. Love this album. Been playing it almost non-stop since Thursday. Although I gotta admit I do like "Teach Me", understand your comment though about it not fitting the album.
I am disappointed as well that the Pete Rock track, whatever it was, didn't make it on the album. Not surprised though as anything PR's involved with never seems to come out.

Well, Pete Rock is supposed to be releasing PeteStrumentals 2 this year. He's played 2-3 snippets of songs from it on his Instagram. He even said he was goin to master it last Friday. Also, he told me in the comments section of one of his posts that just like the 1st PeteStrumentals, there will be TWO versions... the 1st version will be 100% beats and the 2nd will be with some Vocal tracks.
Re: Now Era stuff you might like (older artists and newer)
good news about pete rock, thanks guys!

Good shit! I just ordered the CD. I love all the beats that Phoniks cooks up... he's easily one of my favorite producers.kartman wrote:i heard the new ep by peebs the prophet, produced by phoniks and blunt one

"Well, Pete Rock is supposed to be releasing PeteStrumentals 2 this year. He's played 2-3 snippets of songs from it on his Instagram. He even said he was goin to master it last Friday. Also, he told me in the comments section of one of his posts that just like the 1st PeteStrumentals, there will be TWO versions... the 1st version will be 100% beats and the 2nd will be with some Vocal tracks."
Thanks for the info Wicked! Heard the snippets through his Twitter feed yesterday. Really thought him and Joey Bada$$ were a match made in heaven, but glad to hear we are getting new Pete this year.
