the pianist died today in a hospital in his home town Vienna at the age of 75.

played in the Cannonball Adderley Quintet (composed the classics Mercy Mercy Mercy country preacher and others), then with Miles Davis (composed in a silent way for him), and later Weather Report with Wayne Shorter (composed the alltime classic Birdland). he was an important musician at the forefront of Fusion Jazz

holy shit am I regretting skipping out on the last time he was in my city, right about now.

thought I'd get another chance to see him for sure.

loved his shit was Weather Report.

listened to heavy weather on the commute to work today and some zawinul syndicate on the way back.

definitely a legend, and heavy weather is a GOAT jazz/fusion album, top 5 status.
