* Slint were absolutely incredible. They were as precise as a laser - it was like the crowd wasn't even there and they were just rehearsing together.

* Fucking hipsters. We were pretty far back and people around us were incessantly talking on their cellphones and neighbors during Slint about all manner of nonsense. They were verging on drowning them out.

* During "Good Morning Captain" some dumb schmuck seriously walked right in front of me in the midst of the climactic ending so I shoved him pretty hard. His reaction as I shot him the "I will break every bone in your body"-glance was priceless. He walked away and the bespectacled geeks in the vicinity were visibly shook by my ogreish display of aggression. Hipsters step out of their place and their liable to get smacked in their goddamn face.

* Dorks dancing ironically during GZA. Barely anybody around me reacted as they did their best to maintain their cool, detached pose at all times.

* Capadonna was there. Apparently, GZA came all the way from Amsterdam for this show because Wu-Tang was on tour there? I had no idea. Was a dope set. GZA has a lot more energy than I expected and rarely fucked up a line or sounded out of breath. Ended with what I'm guessin is a newer Wu song, "Reunited", "Animal Planet', "Triumph", and "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" with the crowd's help.

* Even GZA and Slint couldn't prevent Sonic Youth from stealing the show. They came on like they were on a mission from God and just owned the stage, the crowd, the fucking city, really. Nailed every song and didn't even pause for a break. A funny highlight was when they actually did take a break, so to speak, and "Providence" was played over the P.A.

* Lee and Steve Shelley are very underrated.

* It was a great time although I felt like the quarterback of the football team compared to the 10,000+ kids trying their best to look like total pussies.

Sounds great. GZA did the whole album front to back? Did they play the skits or just miss them out?

Going to both the Sonic Youth and Slint 'Don't Look Back' shows in August.

I feel ya' on people chatting through gigs though. I went to see Mogwai on Thursday at Somerset House and was surrounded by people yakking all the way though. Seems pointless to me. Just go and stand at the bar if you're not interested in listening and just want to chat.

Sadly I lack the threatening demeanour to tell people to shut up and it have any effect. They usually just carry on regarless, the cuntz.

Yeah, pretty much. When he came out the P.A. started playing the whole "When I was little, my father was famous. He was the greatest Samurai in the empire, and he was the Shogun's decapitator." GZA did the verses for the guests except for a couple new verses by Cappadonna.

Sadly, there was no Don Rodriguez skit. GZA did the remix version of "Cold World". Killah Priest was there also and did his verse on "4th Chamber" and "B.I.B.L.E." as well.

The whole "Don't Look Back" concept is cool. I'd like to see them do one for Cuban Linx with Rae, Ghost and the rest of the Clan complete with "don't play me like I got a flower pot-head, kid" and "what's that in your hand, son?" skits.

I was late and missed slint and most of GZA. VERY VERY UPSET!!!!! Clipse owned Saturday and Malkmus RULED!!!! New pornographers and De la were good as well.

I wanted to see a few of the other acts - The Sea and Cake, Cat Power (I have a crush on this woman ), De La Soul, and The Clipse, but I really couldn't care less about most of them.

I was surprised to hear that 17,000 showed up for Saturday and Sunday versus 13,000 for Friday. Kinda thought it would be the other way around.

So, the 3 major Slint fans on here (me, Yak, Gripp) have all seen them live now.

Did Kim Gordon look hot?

All we need now is for Infest to reform, play Jon Hiltz's basement and go through their entire catalog and life will be complete.

Saw Jesus And Mary Chain the other week which was great, and have heard rumours of a My Bloody Valentine reunion.

Rorschach is another one. There was a flood of rumors that they were gonna play some reunion shows a few years back, but nothing ever materialized.

I saw Slint last night. They did 'Spiderland' front to back, then the Glenn/Rhoda EP afterwards as an encore. Really dope.

They also did a new track that I didn't know what to make of. Instrumental, with a kind of Don Caballero sound.

I think they did the song you're describing when I saw them in Chicago. I didn't really know what to think of it either. Definitely not Spiderland-caliber material, though.

In London. Didn't see any shows in NY, sadly. Wanted to go and see BCC at S.O.B's but my woman vetoed it.

There was an article in one of the free London papers about the Slint gig and they said that new track is called "King's Approach". Theres an MP3 on this blog...
