Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight" crashes in at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in a big way this week, its 623,000 copies the highest first-week total of 2007, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the biggest debut week number since Jay-Z's "Kingdom Come" moved 680,000 last December; only five other titles have moved more than 600,000 in a week in the past two years. Linkin Park's last album, 2003's "Meteora," began at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with 810,000.

A) What does this have to do with Hip Hop Discussion?

B) Who the fuck listens to Linkin Park?

C) Is there a whinier voice in popular music than the dude who raps/sings for this group?

I think you people are addicted to being angry and bitter. Come on.

A lot of people are into this whole, record industry toppling over and dying thing, and seeing numbers like Linkin Park's are refreshing. There is something to be said about that. Regardless of your thoughts on Linkin Park.

Sorry, there's not a lot of elbow room with all the swollen clitorises around here. Boo hoo.

Keep passing out free cd-r's that never get listened to.

Cute. The reason I asked A was because we have a separate forum for non-hip-hop. Unless you just started listening to hip-hop and you actually think Linkin Park fits in this category, in which case, I have a "Who Is Rakim" flag for you.

The reason I ask B is because I think their entire fan base is white and tone deaf, and maybe the answer is just "guys with shitty online handles that are insinuating their prowess of seduction on a message board that consists of 99.9% men" in which case I have a "What is good music" flag for you.

The reason I ask C is the reason I asked B, because I honestly had no idea, but really should have known, that it was really possible to make a thread this worthless.

So, to recap, you are old enough to know not to like such sappy shitty music, you actually enjoy it, and your vagina gets so moist to hear this whiny horrible shit that you decided to make a thread so that everybody here can clown you for your terrible taste?

Well, sorry to hear that, best of luck to you, and lets just hope that you don't make music too.

Sincerely,

Smooth Lou

interesting how linkin park is consistantly at the top of the charts yet i don't know a single person who owns their albums or even likes them

I took this thread as a commentary on how stupid a lot of people are.

Seriously, if any of this half-a-fag kiddie demographic knew this shitty music was for free in the shadier places of the internet they wouldn't sell nearly as much.

what a terrible way to look at music sales...........

but if all these half-a-fag 30 year olds DIDNT know where to get free music, would rap sales be better?

yesshh.

ya I know it's a pretty bad generalization, but in my experience, an album gets leaked, people talk shit on it, and then no one wants to buy it.

but really I'm just bitter cuz I don't like their music, when they can sell big numbers so consistently that just means companies will continue to pander to this music I don't like. And here I am beating this dead horse.

They're not so bad. Their "no one understands me, I'm angry at my parents" vibe is beyond annoying. To see grown people making music like that is embarrassing.

But I must say they've had some catchy songs and some incredibly dope videos.

I'll add that, as I've always contended (to much ridicule back at HHI), that the dude who raps is not a bad rapper and is actually about average. Needless to say if he posted here he'd be in the top five rappers of PF.
