For whatever's it's worth, I saw these dudes, at a sold out, 930 Club show...It was epic, the lead singer sounded like he was the leader of a 400-piece, street band, and dude in the back was rocking a cape and a digital organ, bung....And the light show = retarded....

Timely thread. These guys are playing here in two weeks and I was thinking about going. They seem kinda queery but I can get past that if they put on a dope show. What's their main fanbase like?

They played right after us at lollapalooza. I've never been more confused. Two of my friends were religiously devout fans after that. I've never given them much of a listen cause singer dude had a braid longer than my torso. Which is one of my fears. Long braid a freak a me out.

an austin band with a great frontman who is entertaining with his singing and dancing (lots of comparisons to freddy mercury). beats are kind of like chromeo: retro, uptempo, 80s drum sounds with trippy, ethereal synths. most people that are into them are white hipsters, but they have a huge hot girl fanbase. i hear they put on a great live show, but their albums are underwhelming. here are their best songs, the only ones you really need to worry about.

^^will check those later.

last few times i've ventured back to the motherland i've grabbed a stack of old mix-cds made from roughly 03-06 to listen to on the drive back and this fucking song is on every one of them
pretty sure it's the only song of theirs i've ever heard, but apparently i once loved it (still pretty great)

kind of surprised that (to my knowledge) they never even made it to clap your hands say yeah level of 'famous' considering they were the first band i really remember the hipster blogosphere (:vomit:) rallying behind

I saw them at that lollapalooza, and they were great.

I might be alone in really liking their album material, but it's great stuff. Kind of hard to describe. FATL funky with chromeo appeal and almost a Mick Jones vibe.

Cool band. I don't quite know how to say this but if you've heard of this band you're a hipster. Sorry to have to be the one to tell you dudes this.

Even if I first heard of them from a Mason/pitaria co-worker two years ago?

Haha, they're alright. I think I would dig the live show more than their recordings.
