Cool - i'll try and peep that on Barefiles or something. You heard any of Blackdowns stuff? He'd made a few tracks with Trim and a guy I used to go to school with.
yeah i really rate that trim track - you know about the rinse podcast y@k? they upload all the main shows there nowadays. rinsefm.blogspot.com - as it goes they've actually banned barefiles etc from using any rinse material (a bit shady) so other than blogs/rwd forum (lol) that's the only way to get rinse stuff nowadays.

sheik, i'll put 'em up for you in a day or two... and you can :upload: your track with jammer in exchange...
i haven't even started rapping on the thing yet

it's a heavy fucking beat though

pretty spooky

i do plan to have jammer on the hook and perhaps a verse. hopefully he'll deliver some classic jammer-isms like "WHEN GIRLS SEE ME, THEY'RE LIKE 'WOW!'"

vol 3 should be out soon, can't wait. trim is a beast.

Logan Sama's best-of-the-year christmas mix for UKRecordshop. Haven't listened to this yet but it's Logan so i'm sure it'll be a well mixed selection with an essex twat yelling pointless shit over the top of it.

You got one of the promos sold on dubplate.net?

And that Flying Lotus / Kode 9 session is great. I wish the bitrate was higher but rinse is always at 64kbps, right? Been a huge fan of Lotus for a while, great to see him making moves. The album on Warp will be amazing.

the first 10 mins or so are great..apparently rusti has a release on hyperdub forthcoming, as well as the Ikonika which is huge

nah, wasn't fast enough for that - i got a promo of the cd which basically has a completely different (and much longer) tracklisting compared to the vinyl. can't wait to listen to it, will put it up here asap as well.

really looking forward to both the flying lotus and rustie releases mentioned in here, because they're both killing it at the moment.

Keep flying lotus out of the GRIMEDUBSTEPFUNKYBASSLINE thread plz (that set is fucking cool though, he sounds like Madlib in his prime before he got stuck up his own asshole releasing 40 albums a year)

I've been listening to Rinse quite a lot in the day cos I got no music on my new laptop. It's pretty much all Funky 'Ass, which is mostly pretty rubbish. The only parts at which it is interesting is when some of the tunes start sounding like the whole minimal(not minimal) Berlin-axis and you suddenly think WTF is he going to mix in fucking Villalobos. Of course, he won't, and I don't think there could ever be a crossover of this kind - but it's interesting the way dance music scenes can often be listening to extremely similar things but (seemingly) unaware of one another.

Mostly it's just auto-tuned hairdresser-house territory unfortunately :(
This is like when all the pirates started playing Dipset about 6 years ago and stopped playing garage and proto-grime.

Is Benga actually good? Sure he has funny hair and is responsible for one of the best drinking beep-alongs of last year - but i don't think I've ever found anything else particularly engaging.

i dunno. he's a bit like coki in that he kind of sounds like everyone else, but a lot of that is to do with everyone else copying him.

he's had a few tracks recently that are pretty amazing - he did this remix of 'insomnia' by faithless of all things that is just pure screwupyourfacelikesomeonejustfarted stupidity. also he doesn't just do halfstep all the time which is good. so i'm interested to hear it.

pretty much. I don't expect this to completely blow my mind or anything but it should be good. I've been trying to find this album for a couple of weeks and I might have gotten a little over-excited when barknee posted that he got it.

E Trips and 26 Basslines sound huge:

Benga should probably do an album covering romantic ballads in the style of "Night". Now THAT I would be interested in.

 on the upload

I'm about halfway through this and surprised to hear Benga doin teh Jazz and IDM. Granted I've only heard 9 tracks so far, but this could be one of the few Dubstep-related albums that actually feel like an album. Still loving the Spongebobiness of E-Trips.

:icedit: Haha, Pleasure is crazy

mid-summer according to sama when i'm 'ere when i'm 'ere. so just in time to shank someone in the knee at carnival and get locked up again. hope they do a massive set and everyone just does their when i'm 'ere bars for 2 hours when i'm 'ere when i'm 'ere.
tpp wrote:What is the current status of Roll Deep?
no idea. wiley said a while ago that he'd left but you can never really believe what he says, can you? also they seemed to have changed their name to 'Big Money Sound' (wank) for a while but that seems to have stopped too. and flow dan is the only one who ever seems to turn up to radio which is not 'a good look 4 da scene' as someone on rwd forum might say.
tpp wrote:Are the Boy Better Know shows worth downloading at mo? (they were shit when I last checked)
pretty good at the moment actually. skepta, jme, wiley, and flow dan () are there most of the time, and people like ruff sqwad etc occasionally show up. also this new (?) crew called The OG's have been turning up and doing quite alot.
tpp wrote:Barknee - do you have that BBK 'Tropical' mixtape that I've seen many man dem chatting about?
it's fucking shite, i wouldn't bother. really half arsed funky chunky house productions from jme, skepta and plastician.

speedball 2 is bonkers. here's hoping that burial's next album is pure evil.

sorry, you what?!?!
Dizzee's Maths + English Coming to U.S. Via Def Jux
El-P remixing "Where's Da G's"

We haven't exactly been shy in expressing our fondness for Dizzee Rascal's Maths + English album. We gave the disc our recommendation when we reviewed it back in June, and it even landed at #49 on our list of our favorite albums of last year (single "Pussyole" made it onto our top songs list at #28) But when XL originally released the album, it wasn't given a physical release in the U.S., just a digital one. It was unfortunate; as our reviewer Nate Patrin wrote, "Dizzee's best prospects for an expanded fanbase may well be across the pond."

Happily, Maths + English is getting another chance, thanks to the good folks at Def Jux. The indie rap powerhouse will issue the album on CD for the first time in the States April 29. (It will also re-release it digitally, as it is no longer available as a download here.)

The Def Jux version will feature new studio tracks "G.H.E.T.T.O." and "Driving" as well as a remix of the UGK-assisted "Where's Da G's" by Def Jux label head El-P. All told, it sounds like it was worth the wait.
:naswtf:
if this was 2003 my brain would have probably exploded by now.

I think we can all agree this move by El P is to spite me for my classic Grime vs. Def Jux thread in M2C from a couple of years back.
