For those who have never turned on a radio dial in New York, for several years this was the only station in the area that played hits from the 50s-70s. Then Jack FM came in about two years ago and fucked everything up, but that switch only lasted for two years. So its back to the essence, save a slight format change in which more eighties is being played but its whatever...the station is still playing all the pimp jams from the 50s-70s.
Here are some of the joints I've been about lately...
The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes For You

The Spinners - I'll Be Around

The Drifters - Up on the Roof

Aware that most of the songs mentioned will basically make this a thinly veiled sampled track mele but fuck it, it's nice to be able to hear timeless Motown and Psych Pop too without the subscription service.
If anything i'm still making up for all the lost time acquired not growing up with as much old records kicking around the house.
God bless WCBS-FM 101.1
