ROUND 1: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road vs. OK Computer
Moderator: Philaflava
very disappointed in this poll. i even listened to ok computer last night, trying to figure out what it is that could make it better than yellow brick road. after skipping through the last four or so tracks i concluded it just isn't. strong start, weak finish.
oh well. i rest easy knowing that it won't last long in the tourney.

yeah. the last four songs are horrible since they arent

you're right. "the tourist" is a horrible, forgettable song that doesnt finish up the album in a completely appropriate manner.
although it did offer you this bit of advice:
"idiioooooot, slooow dooowwwwwwn"

yeah. the last four songs are horrible since they arentguitar anthems from start to finish. fuck songs that dont sound the same for four minutes straight and fuck songs that stick to a concept and create a mood..as a matter of fact, fuck concept albums...except for goodbye, yellow brick road of course!

I don't think it matters if any album gets bashed because everybody has an opinion, and when it comes to music opinions vary. But all this "omg radiohead is
" is something I'd expect from a forum of 13 year olds. Can somebody actually explain why the album shouldn't win without sounding like an adolescent?

Its not that Radiohead's shit is bad, its that Elton's is so fucking amazing. GYBR contains some of the most raucous, fun, beautiful, powerful and well-written pop songs ever. Bernie and Elton were on another plane of existence here. The instrumentation is incredibly well-crafted without coming off as prententious or overwhelming. It has all of the feeling and honesty of Honky Chateau, but on a larger scale. Its a perfect pop album.
OK Computer is a great moody, dense album. Its a tedious experience and there are some pretty unlistenable moments though. I would have to be in a specific mood to get any enjoyment out of it, while you can throw on pretty much any track from GBYBR at any time, and I would be into it.

Respect, Blastmaster. I don't believe anybody has to like Radiohead or OK Computer for that matter but coming in here withblastmaster wrote:Its not that Radiohead's shit is bad, its that Elton's is so fucking amazing. Goodbye YBR is very good pop album, but I'd disagree with it being the perfect pop album. Still though, I'm not hating at all. Elton's best album, which says something.
and I agree that you can't just put on OK Computer at your kids b-day party and hang out. The album is about the corporate world's replacement of human emotion and personality with robotic behavior. It's supposed to sound that way. That's the concept of the album.

Quite injecting logic and reason into these debates you pretentious faggots.ric wrote:for me the vote was because ok computer was like the ''endtroducing'' for its genre, whereas yellow brick was just an album with real good songs on it.
