TOP 5 - BLACK SABBATH
Well, this is impossible...but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try. After agonizing for several days here are my five:
5. "Black Sabbath" - Where metal began.
4. "Symptom Of The Universe" - "Don't Start Too Late" quietly introduces this absolute beast which kicks-off with a simple vicious Iommi proto-thrash riff. The real stars here are Bill Ward and Ozzy, however.
3. "Into The Void" - Heaviest song ever written. This makes "Whole Lotta Love" sound like a Gerry and the Pacemakers ballad. Bands as far-ranging as Sleep, Eyehategod, Cavity, Sunn0))), and a million others would not exist in a universe without "Into The Void". What about the fast part in the middle? Before the advent of hardcore punk, how could people of that time listen to this without their heads exploding? All that I know is that a universe without this song is one that I would not want to live in.
2. "Fairies Wear Boots" - The solo at the end propels this song into another stratosphere and gives the perfect album a perfect ending
1. "Hand Of Doom" - I think if I were to try to sum up my opinion on this song it would devolve into a Mindbender-esque litany of emoticons and expletives...so I'll just give you a link to Sabbath playing "Hand Of Doom" somewhere in Paris circa 1970:

Good one. I rarely listen to Sabotage.Money Gripp wrote:4. "Symptom Of The Universe" - "Don't Start Too Late" quietly introduces this absolute beast which kicks-off with a simple vicious Iommi proto-thrash riff. The real stars here are Bill Ward and Ozzy, however.
My 5 off the top.
1) Sweet Leaf - that dutty coughing intro, then the crunchy guitar... One of the best album openers ever.
2) Hand of Doom - love the change of pace
3) Children Of The Grave - drumming on this track is ill.
4) War Pigs
5) Planet Caravan - weird choice I know, but I really like the vox effect and one of my favourite things about Black Sabbath are those softer interlude type tracks like 'Embryo' and 'Orchid' on 'Master of Reality' that punctuate the album.
Special mention to the first half of 'Sabbra Cadabra'. What starts as a classic Paranoid-esque style stomper, turns into Rick Wakeman inspired gayness. And special mention to 'Paranoid' - timeless pub jukebox classic.

1. Black Sabbath <~~ As opening songs on debut albums go, this is about as good a statement of intent as you can get, plus Ice T sampled it for the magificent "midnight" (and the Jello featuring intro to the Iceberg album)
2. The Wizard
3. Paranoid
4. War Pigs <~~ The last two are obvious choices but fuck it.
5. Hand Of Doom/Snowblind <~~ Really couldn't decide between these two.
Mad luh goes to the D.Y.S cover of "iron man".

A while back, I created a Sabbath station on Pandora.com and listening for new shit. Well, something by a band "Bang" came on. It was "The Queen" from an album called "Mother / Bow To The King". I looked on Oink, and other public torrent sites, plus I've googled for rapidshare and megaupload links. I can't find this shit but I wanted to check it out. Does anybody have this album? Or any of their material?

1. Into the Void
2. Children Of The Grave
3. War Pigs
4. Fairies Wear Boots
5. Paranoid
I don't see how Into The Void could NOT make into a Sabbath top 5. Heaviest song ever. If I'm listening to it when driving I turn into a maniac. I can't disrespect the song and not head bang when listening to it.

I can't choose my top 5 right now but it'd be a combo of what y'all said.
The reasons why I think Led Zeppelin are better then Black Sabbath are John Bonham's drumming, Robert Plant's voice, and they had more influences in their sound than Black Sabbath. But to Sabbath's credit they were pioneering new territory so that should be noted.
How do 99% of you people seriously think gay ass Zeppelin are better?
