(HER PR) Slayer will make its network television debut on FRIDAY, JANUARY 19 with an appearance on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live." While one song will be broadcast on-air, the band will perform a free, five-song mini-concert on Kimmel's Outdoor Stage located right in the heart of Hollywood, CA. Slayer's Grammy-nominated track, "Eyes of the Insane," from the band's most recent CD, "Christ Illusion" will be one of the songs the band will perform. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs at 12:05AM ET and PT/11:05PM CT.
The TV appearance will precede Slayer's 2007 Winter North American Tour which will kick off on January 24 in Tucson, AZ and wind up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on February 24.

Those Rollins performances are some of the best shot and edited TV music performances I've seen. Good shit.
They also link you to an awesome video of them performing Hell Awaits in 1985. Awesome.
Watching these got me thinking about how much Slayer has in common with PE/Bomb Squad. They both created incredibly distinct and awesome sounds seemingly out of thin air.
They both had influences for sure, but both manged to pull off such a radical departure from what had gone before them that it is hard to connect the dots.
Additionally, despite being monumentally influential, no one that followed has really succeeded in building on, reproducing or topping their sound.
Both hit their stride at roughly the same time and they both needed an album or two to find what would be their signature sound.
And of course, our patron saint Rick Rubin had a hand in both.
Two of my favorite groups of all time.
