We placed 6th last time.
An absolute embarassment if you ask me.
I think we should place no lower than third this year with a 50-50 shot at the title.
I think that this will be a better team without Kobe and that he won't play a minute of time for Team USA. He won't play in the championships and he'll withdraw his name from the Olympic team. He's already seen a lot of criticism for his choice of pronouns when speaking about the squad.
This is the only sport which I feel somewhat patriotic about. Maybe it's because the 1992 Dream Team is one of my most cherrish memories of basketball as a kid.
Who are you picks and how do you think the US team will fare?

I tuned it right at the end of the second quarter. PJ Ramos, a backup C for the Puros is a Wizard, so there is an allegiance there. PJ couldn't seem to get off the floor, but he did come close to punking the crap out of that nancy Shane Battier. If he only finished that jam. He was also surprisingly adept at the free throw line, and his footwork wasn't terrible (thats two more things better than Haywood). He even hit a jumper. Although, damn, can he grab a rebound, please? You the tallest dude on the court and you are getting out-boarded by friggin Kirk Hinrich!
I was rooting against the americans when gilbert or 'tawn wasn't in. 'tawn was stroking his three, dominating garbage time and taking beautiful Chris Paul feeds and turning them into ugh, driving layups. THROW THAT DOWN 'TAWN!
Gilbert was the spark of the run that ultimately sank the Boriquas. He ran that floor with so much energy, simply sick. They replayed his out of bounds save ad nauseum. This is a scrimmage for crissakes! The score at the end wasn't even official! And there's Gilbert DIVING INTO THE CROWN FOR A LOOSE BALL! Definitely more impressive that the Darling Dwyane Wade who nauseatingly saluted to soldiers after double dribbling (uncalled) four or five times before dunking. Seeing Coach K on the sidelines also lamed it up. Screw Kyfdsahdakafsdkkfasdsy.
USA looks like a well-oiled machine, hopefully Kobe doesn't come back and ruin the whole steez.

coach k is doin his damn thing...he's balancing the squads out that come on the floor...everyone wants to see lebron and wade on the floor together, but we don't need that..although i suppose when the real games come along they may be starting together
gibert arenas is really good

U.S. edges Brazil late; Anthony injures kneeAssociated Press
GUANGZHOU, China -- Carmelo Anthony scored 16 first-half points before being forced out with a knee injury, and the United States hung on for a 90-86 victory over Brazil on Tuesday.
Anthony set the early pace for the U.S., but slipped while chasing a ball to the sideline with 2:21 left in the second quarter. He crashed into coach Mike Krzyzewski and left the game with a hyperextended right knee, an injury team officials said didn't appear serious.
Kirk Hinrich added 14 points for the Americans, who led 52-38 at halftime. Brazil staged a big comeback while Anthony sat out the rest of the warmup game before the world basketball championship.
Brazil went on a 16-0 run right after the break to grab a 54-52 advantage. The teams then traded the lead throughout the third quarter.
Taking advantage of Anthony's absence, Brazil went on the attack. Welington Dos Santos rattled the U.S. defense with his speed and passing, while Leandro Barbosa of the Phoenix Suns, and Alex Garcia repeatedly drove to the basket. Both finished with 14 points.
Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao dictated play under the basket, racking up six defensive rebounds and three offensive boards in the third quarter. He fouled out in the final frame with Brazil trailing 85-82.
LeBron James made a late layup, and Joe Johnson -- who finished with 12 points -- added one from the free-throw line to seal it for the Americans.
Hinrich was 8-for-8 from the foul line, and hit two of four 3-point attempts.
The hard-fought win followed two easy U.S. victories and offered a preview of the tougher competition the Americans will likely face at the world championship, which begins in Japan on Aug. 19.

Was Nene playing for Brazil? I remember watching the Brazil vs Usa matchup played at the Goodwill games in Australia where Nene and that Varesyao??? dude with the afro who is in the nba now were both 17 years old and they staged a massive comeback and sent it to overtime. I still have the tape, Nene was sick, had something like 5-6 blocks just swatting the shit out of Kenyon Martin and company.
if i'm correct, nene ain't playin because of injury issuesMoolah wrote:Was Nene playing for Brazil? but varejo (sp?) is playing...he was a rebounding machine apparently, but he fouled out early...
i guess you

two words: leandro barbosa
he's gonna be tons of trouble this year...even though he too fouled out in the 3rd quarter
Garcia stretched the US defense all night with his powerful up tempo game, pushing the ball forward and finding seams in the American

Yea Gold is the only exceptable medal, anything less is a disgrace! We gonna do it this yr though, get back on track & start another 50+ game winning streak, yea Brazil gave us problems, but Melo got hurt & he our leading scorer & I think that mentaly took us out of our game, we were on our way to blowing them before he got hurt.
