Way to go Germany!

I suppose I should have supported the Germans being they are managed by a Spurs legend!

Anyway I want Italy to win tomorrow but I have a sneaky feeling France will do it 2-1. If they do they do deserve it beating Spain, Brazil and Portugal to get there.

Zidane is easily the player of the tournament!

good defense versus good offense, huh?

my point of reference is american football, and usually when that's the case, it's the good defense that wins...

that said, i'm gonna go with my heart instead of my head, and say france 1-0.

maybe 2-0 with a late goal in stoppage time..

france as a country, sucks.

france's soccer team however, is decently fun to watch, and the italians are booooring...

And so comes the end of another HHI/Philaflava world cup thread. See you guys in four years.

Okay, not before I make a couple comments.

That headbutt was amazing, but so stupid. I'm so disappointed in Zidane ending his career like that. There's nothing else to ask or say, but...what the fuck was he thinking?

Henry was yet again isolated up front. Just like England, France were underwhelming because their very talented striker was left on his own up front with no support. And just like England, they went out in penalties against a team they could have beaten.

Why was Henry taken off just before penalties? Boggles the mind.

Anyway. Well done Italy. They played the better game and got the result they deserved.

It will be very interesting to find out what was said to Zidane to provoke that headbutt.

They shoulda kept Henry in the game knowing there was a good chance it might come down to penalty kicks

And that dude that hit the post with his kick must feel like shit..

Regardless of what was said, Zidane has absolutely no excuse to have acted like that.

Though I'd still like to hear his attempt at an explanation.

Um, well if it was racial or something said about his family then yeah, dude deserved a headbutt. Especially given all the shit the French team has been through from a racial standpoint.

agree with everything you said except Italy "played the better game". France totally owned the second half. Italy was DEAD after halftime.
Zidane's headbutt destroyed everything though, I still can't believe it...What a fucking shame. I really want to know what Materrazi said too but I don't think we'll hear Zidane talk in the next months.

I am in total disbelief that Italy will once again overcome a match-fixing scandal by winning the cup...

Word. Italy had nothing left in the tank during the overtimes. Buffon once again bailed them out by making a huge save on that header by Zidane. Then Zidane went and fucked himself and his teammates.

I'm very happy for the Italian players, especially since half of them will be going back to play Serie C football next year

france and henry earned some respect, they should've taken this thing in the 2nd half. credit to italy for pulling through, their D is rough.

i heard all of the players will be free agents if the clubs get sent down. can anyone confirm? i think it was more organizational faults as opposed to putting any blame on the players.

yeah, its a bit of a legal wrangle considering alot of the players have relegation clauses in their contracts and therefore can opt out if the team is relegated. However, being relegated for something other than finishing in the last 3 spots in the league might differ from the conventional rules. Certainly if they get sent all the way down to Serie C they'd be allowed to opt out as from what i remember thats an amateur league.

what was Zidane thinking? fucking tragic.

doesn't matter what was said. His sole purpose was to get inside Zidane's head and make him do something stupid. it worked.

my life has less meaning now that this cup is over.
