Mutombo gets into it with fan over allegedly racist taunts
October 26, 2006
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Houston center Dikembe Mutombo got into it with a fan who allegedly yelled racist slurs at him in the third quarter of the Rockets' preseason loss to the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.
Mutombo yelled at the man and gestured back. The fan was ejected. No action was taken against Mutombo.

"I am not going to take that. He was insulting my race, my family, my integrity. For him to call me a monkey ... that should not happen today," Mutombo said.
"If I get fined, I will go straight into the stands the next time."
Magic spokesman Joel Glass said the matter was turned over to NBA security.

What non-traditional stats do you look at to help you determine who you think is the MVP? Roland ratings?eternalreflection wrote:well that has to be the reason he won the last 2, because it sure wasn't based on his playGregg Popabitch wrote:MVP- Steve Nash so the white writers can make the white people happy about watching basketball again.
I agree with you that Nash definitely doesn't deserve to have two MVPs.

he doesn't deserve 1, his "makes players better" was basically players stats get better when they go from 20mins a game to 30+, Bell, Barbosa really didn't improve they just played more, and Marion had similar years in the past before Nash. And players like Diaw were young, young players improve naturally.Psychosis wrote:What non-traditional stats do you look at to help you determine who you think is the MVP? PER is really good, it undervalues defense, so you need some adjustments there, but Nash is terrible defensively so its not like undervaluing defense is hurting him, in fact its helping him

and it wasn't 2005. i thought that was Shaq's year. I thought he deserved it last year but would've been happy with lebron, dirk or kobe either.
you say marion had similar years in the past. he averaged more ppg last year then any other year he ever had. when you consider his shots per game was 4th for his career and his minutes per game were 3rd for his career, that's pretty interesting.
every player on the suns saw their scoring averages per 48 minutes rise last year that played at least 15 minutes a game except for raja bell, kurt thomas, and tim thomas. the same thing with true shooting %. nash was extremely extremely good last year.

Marion had his best year last year, but its not much better than his 04/05, 02/03 or 01/02 its not all Nash
old players decline, young players get better, midage stay roughly the same its a novel concept so a some very young players got better with another year experience and well extra playing time, you don't say
it was a joke that he won the MVP either year, let alone both

Goodbye Luke...we hardly knew you...

Bears joy has almost prevented me from getting excited about the Bulls season. This Tuesday is a big game...for both Miami and us. That being said I would say we are a top 10 team in this league easy...and top 5 in the East. I don't think we are title bound this year but I would say we got a decent shot of making the Eastern Conference Finals.

Bulls look sharp as hell, playing incredibly well for a team with so many new pieces.. Tyrus Thomas with a
dunk already.
