2 of the USA Today/SB Nation top 25 at 170 have less than 50% of their wins by finishes (Fitch and Ricardo Almeida). Even if I ignored that, I don't understand your criticism of the division.

Most of the relevant guys in the division are exciting (save for Fitch and, depending on your definition of exciting, Koscheck).
I love GSP but he isn't very exciting. shields is boring as shit, fitch is boring as shit.

I know I'm a day or two late on this, but how great was it to see Mark Hunt whip some ass? And the cavalier way he just walked away from the dude after throwing that punch was glorious.

I think some people confuse "boring" with "methodical".

Interesting to see what Dana thought about the Fitch/Penn outcome.

ג€œI didnג€™t think it was a draw,ג€ White stated. ג€œI looked at the scorecards and the two judges who had it a draw scored the first two rounds for Penn and the third round a 10-8 [for Fitch].

ג€œPersonally, I scored the first two rounds for Penn and had him winning the fight. Thereג€™s no doubt B.J. got pounded in the third round, but that wasnג€™t a 10-8 round.ג€

- Dana White

BJ landed 2 strikes in the last round. Fitch took BJ down and landed 149 strikes. C'mon Dana, you're better than that.

I read that it was the second-most strikes anyone has ever landed in a single round in the UFC. As much as I hate a tie,it feels hard to argue that as not a 10-8.

If you land a 149 punches on your opponent he should be dead.

the argument is that all those strikes were from inside guard and BJ wasn't in danger of being tko'd/subbed, which I can see, but I like the idea of giving out more 10-8 and 10-10 rounds.

email from Chael Sonnen to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva:

To: Joe Silva, Matchmaker Extraordinaire, Ultimate Fighting Championship
Re: Spitsbing & his tainted victory

Joe:

If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing itג€™ll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when Iג€™m charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each otherג€™s company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon.

Oh; and Iג€™d suggest to him being a little careful about spitting on any of MY cornermen, since any one of them can beat him up as badly as I can. Thanks ever so much.
Hope all is well.

I feel like I wanted more 10-8 rounds, but then the Edgar/Maynard and Penn/Fitch fights happened and I was disappointed. Maybe the Japanese system would be better?

MMA bros, we got a card Thursday on Versus, UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann.

Picks:

Prelims (I don't care about any of these fights and they are not relevant to their divisions, but whatever. Hopefully there is some KOs and nice subs that make their way to the broadcast):

Igor
Paul Harris (via foot removal)
Kimmons
Mizugaki
Tavares (pulling for Roller and this fight should be on the Facebook stream)

Prelims on Facebook:

Diabate
Stevenson (he can't beat great fighters, Castillo is not a great fighter. Logic!)

Main Card:

Bowles
Sakara
Munoz (coin-flip pick)
Diego (wins because of positive energy and cartwheels)

For some reason I can't bring myself to care about a lot of the fighters on this card. That being said it should be a night of exciting fights. I hope Bowles and Mizugaki both crush.

^ I have tickets to this and I don't really care; I almost forgot it was happening.

Hopefully it's one of those sleeper cards that turns out to be exciting.

I think Diego won, but judges might look at his face and give it to Kampmann. Diego's face looks awful.

Rewatched the fight again and I agree. Great fight. Dana gave each of them $160,000 for their performances.

Incredible fight (as sloppy as it was). Sanchez is a warrior, but for some reason I still cant bring myself to care about him.

Anyone notice that Bowles finished Page with the same move at the exact same time in the same round as he did the first time they fought?
