at the 1st quarter point of the season, the contenders are melo, yao, joe johnson, Lebron, and carlos boozer imo.
melo being in the lead.
its really really wide open
at least you didn't say Nash

dirk, KG, and duncan are great but i think the five i mentioned are having quarters that are just as good or better.
keep in mind i'm not talking about the whole season but just for the first quarter of this year so far.

I think if you are talking about 1st QT MVP candidates you have to put Dirk, Duncan and KG in the discussion since IMO all 3 are in the top5randolph is having a phenomenal year but his team isn't any good.

the top10 or so are all pretty close, noone is clearcut good chance noone will standout come season's end like last year
Randolph is having a sick season, at least worth mentioning since its the rest of the team thats the problem

trust me, they are all in my top 10 except for randolph (i think i've made it clear that i don't think MVPs play on teams that are not in the playoff race. it is early though). also nash (lol) and dwight howard are in my top 10. by the end of the year, it'll probably look alot different.eternalreflection wrote:I think if you are talking about 1st QT MVP candidates you have to put Dirk, Duncan and KG in the discussion since IMO all 3 are in the top5randolph is having a phenomenal year but his team isn't any good.

yeah he might actually be a top5 MVP guy this year, hell he might even earn onean-also wrote:nash is putting up better #'s than his last two years. That cracka's on some next shit but as of now, id give the mvp to (Gulp) carlos booooozer.
though he's overrated like crazy by sportswriters, PF/C are much more valuable than PGs and there are a bunch of PFs better than him

Gasol Would Rather Play For Championship Contender
15th December, 2006 - 11:50 am
Yahoo.com -
There is more bad news for the Grizzlies. Spanish star Pau Gasol would rather play for a championship contender.
Gasol told the "El Tirachanas" program on Spanish television's COPE that he wanted "to be with a team competing for a ring," something that he added would be "very difficult" to do with the Grizzlies.
"There is some truth in it, especially with the whole situation of the change of owners (with the Grizzlies)," Gasol told COPE. "The situation has been uncomfortable, but there are not only the Bulls and Boston, there are other teams interested."

Perhaps a Tyrus Thomas/PJ Brown/Chris Duhon/Sweetney package?
