Why can't we get our old goalkeeper back... what was his name?
ponytail guy. Tony something? or .. something else?
lol Tony Meola lol

:larry: Tony Meola hasn't been a starter since 94

He's barely good enough to play in the MLS

btw Keller ( Our keeper) is world class but had a bad game and was left out to dry a number of times

Don't make him the scapegoat
Brad Friedel was our goalie in the last World Cup and he was a beast. He was the first keeper to block two penalty shots since like 1974. Unfortunately he's retired from international competition.

Keller is a good keeper and those goals were all well earned.

Noone could have stopped that second goal, just a sick shot, and the third goal was a breakaway. He might have had a shot at the first goal, but thats about it.

Your absolutely right, that second goal was unstoppable

Bottom line is that they got to get over the lost and win two straight games (Glup)

This is truth. I never really saw Keller as a top goalie in the world but maybe I just didn't get to see enough of him.

Dida, Cech, Buffon, Van Der Sar, Keller?

And Onyewu was highly unimpressive as well.

so we lost by the largest margin in the tourney so far huh? sounds like same ole usa to me. fuck...its like 02 was an aberration. *Shaking my head*

ghana shouldve drawn with italy...the first goal was....hmm i have to say it was kinda lucky....how pirlo's shot got thru all those bodies in the box is something i'll never understand. also the 2nd goal..ridiculous. essien was a beast. appiah and muntari disappointed. this is a bad WC so far for africa.
sad thing about it is that all the teams have looked real good in parts of their respective games, but mostly defenses have been weak. i have to say, ghana's keeper was dooope!

Results-wise yes, it's bad. But really - every African team has played well. Angola, Ghana, Ivory Coast might have all lost but they've shown they have solid talent. Essien and Drogba have looked top-class and Africa has shown they're not an easy out. It's good to see them playing well even though they haven't tallied a win. Shows some promise for next year in South Africa (which is another story altogether).

canada's in this?

oh, no, they're not...
last time i checked im not Canadian.
yeah, sorry about that...but you should be!!

yeah, we suck though. i've watched just about every game too, and honestly, i know nothing about soccer, but to the untrained eye, they looked the worst out of anyone i've watched so far...nobody was rushing to the ball or the guy with the ball, every attack was a 2 on 5, and their defense wasn't getting back. the c.r. had what? 8 offsides penalties to our 0? isn't that good? i mean, that means at last they were trying to get behind us, you don't really get penalized for it, why not try to get behind your man??

Those who know please tell me, what does the U.S. have to do now to stay in this thing? Isn't there also a loser's group where all the loser teams compete to stay in it?

nah....we basically have to win against italy and then ghana...and probably have to have pretty good scores against both...

losing 3-0 hurts in the tie-breaker, which is goal differential...

I didn't. My exact words upon reading it a while back were "What is a Togo?"

i'll go out on a limb and say that if the US was in a qualifying group with France, Switzerland and a strong Israeli side, neither would they.

that group was ridiculously tight and it took one of the alltime greats in Zidane unretiring ensure France even qualified

a) I'm tired of hearing about how great Brasil is. They're good we get it, but they look unimpressive so far, Croatia has had its chances.

b) Ronaldo is a fat-ass pig.

c) Maybe I'm still new to the sport by why is it so difficult for someone like David Trezeguet to get off the bench? HE'S GOOD AND FRANCE SUCKED SO PUT HIM IN. Dude should be starting in the first place.

d) 4-4-2 sucks.
