Chiefs, Steelers, and Redskins had really good drafts from what I saw.

I was upset with the Texans first round pick after they traded down. From everything I've read since the draft few people had Brown going in the first round or even high up in the second. I understand that they badly needed an OT, but I'd rather they have traded down again and gotten a couple of second and third rounders. Probably could have had the same player and accumulated more picks.

Still, they drafted very well later in the draft and seemed to address all their needs at linebacker, running back, and corner.

Analysis of the Packer picks by arguably the best draft site in the business:

36. GREEN BAY PACKERS
Jordy Nelson WR | Kansas St. | Scouting Report
Just a self-indulgent pick of a guy who will, at best, be the fourth wideout on their depth chart.

56. GREEN BAY PACKERS (f/CLE)
Brian Brohm QB | Louisville | Scouting Report
Good player and a great value but a terrible pick for this organization. This is a big mess now.

60. GREEN BAY PACKERS
Patrick Lee CB | Auburn | Scouting Report
They needed a top young corner behind Al Harris and Charles Woodson so this is a great pick.

Poor TT. You never wanna see phrases like "self-indulgent", "terrible pick for the organization", and "this is a big mess now".

Here is the analysis of the Vikes only pick:

43. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (f/CAR/PHI)
Tyrell Johnson S | Arkansas St. | Scouting Report
A solid value and will be groomed as Darren Sharper's replacement alongside Madieu Williams.

This excerpt from the analysis of Kenny Phillips' pick late in the 1st round is also applicable:

Everyone had the Giants down for a safety at this spot. I actually had them taking Tyrell Johnson in my final mock, but only because Phillips was already off the board.
why you mad homie? Packers have the best 3 qbs in the division now
Stop being such a corn ball acting like you know what you are going to get with Rodgers. But i did your homework for you..... again and will conceed brohm > Booty..duh

I like getting Hester and Cason was a solid pick, I don't know why we got that Thomas kid oughta UTEP, AJ must plan on having Hester do a FB/HB combo with Thomas being the real short yardage back. Tribble in the 6th was a good steal but I don't know about addressing out OT with only our 7th round pick. All in all solid draft but I would have liked a NT, and O-line depth

i generally wouldn't draft a RB in the top 10 unless their skill set is so spectacular, that the value is too much to pass up because of their positions. Peterson (who i felt should be a top 5 pick that year), faulk, ladainian are examples of this.
He will be 29 this season so without the 429 carry season so he would not have 2-3 season of that work load anyways. In his 429 carry year he drooped close to a ypc (5.2 to 4.3) in that season and last season he drooped to 3.5 in limited action due to injury which seems to follow RB that carry over 370 in a season. Most players that hit 370 where finished as feature back within two seasons and end up retiring due to injury. History is not on his side and I doubt any team would trade for him even with a more favorable contract and with the contract no team would touch him.

I will expect him to get at least 1,800 yards and he will be rookie of the year. McFadden is just like Barry Sanders, Sanders was on a team who had no offensive line and it was basically all up to him. Darren McFadden is on the Raiders who have virtually no one to block for him and i think that he's the only running back currently in the NFL that will be able to get a lot of touchdowns and yards, if you thought AP was good his rookie year, then Darren McFadden is going to blow your mind
hes pretty much going to be what people thought reggie bush should have been
No, people tought Bush was going to be a Marshall Faulk type weapon used more like a 3wr coming out of the backfield. No one exepected Bush to be an every down back.

McFadden will not get 1800 yards his rookie year since teams that trail dont run enough to get a back to that level.

Other than Ladanian, they are all 3rd quartile or less in the 1st round (or beginning of 2nd), I think there is great value for RBs here, but in the 1st part of the draft they are rarely worth that value, even if they don't bust.
Agree with you there and as you say LT2 showed he was worth a high round pick but that is looking at his career in retrospective and the list of RB worth a top 2 pick that where drafted in the salary cap era consists of him and Faulk who was traded for a 2nd or 3rd dont remember before his full value was released.

I'm happy with where the Skins got their WRs, and other than Mendenhall and Mcfadden I think there weren't any 1st round RBs in this draft.
From a historical stand point Big 10 rb's are slightly overrated while Pac 10 rb's are slightly underrated while Big 10 WR are slightly underrated and Pac 10 WR overrated. I would rate Mendenhall lower than stewart and teams are going to sorry for passing on Manningham

looking at a running back's age is overrated.

you gotta look at the workload. workload is what leads to wear and tear and overall deterioration of ability.

off the top of my head, i know for a fact that Ladainian, sweetness, Edge, and Eric Dickerson all had good years even after seasons where they had 370 carries.

well think about it this way, with michael turner gone and lorenzo neal gone that opens up two spots in the backfield. there are also rumors going around that andrew pinnock's fracture is possibly career ending. if that is the case then when you look at the depth chart in their backfield it is LTD and Sproles. thats it.
totally agree with you on needing more beef on the lines, but the bolts did stockpile a bunch of UDFA line prospects today so hopefully their is a diamond in the rough somewhere in there.
i love cason as a hard working character guy but i would have loved to have a more physical corner for that third CB spot on the depth chart. a trade down that involved brandon flowers in the second was what i was hoping for. cason is a smart player but can get bitched in traffic.

Yeah I've heard conflicting reports about Pinnock's injury but even so we didn't even run a tradition I-formation last year seeing as a purely blocking FB isn't much needed in this new system. Like you said with the injury to Pinnock I believe Hester will play FB/H-back and some short yardage while Thomas is the main piledriver. But even with a shortage of fullbacks we still line Manumaleauna in the backfield sometimes and he is a bulldozer. yeah i saw the UDFA and hope we get some depth on the O-line but we still need to groom a NT for Williams successor. How'd the Vikings sign almost all the UDFA that I liked?
