matt will win..........remember now, im a renzo gracie student guys, and this is coming from me.........

matt is too strong and too well versed in submissions to tap in this fight........i just cant see it happening........hughes is gonna keep on his feet, and box and move on gracie, maybe slam and then get back up, cause the only way royce has any chance to win this is in his gaurd, and he will never be able to hold matt down on bottom, hes just too strong and will get right back up........

Royce has fallen way off, I would like to see Royce break Hughes' arm or some shit but that probably won't happen.

The real question is why is Hughes scared to fight BJ Penn

cuz penn schooled that ass, and we all know he doesnt want GSP again. This fight is all marketing and $$, when in reality it's probably not even a good fight. To me Matt is a 7/8 to 1 favorite, don't buy into the hype.

gracie's the sentimental favorite. im pulling for him, but in all likelihood it will be matt hughes who wins.

am i missing something though? i want gracie to win, but im almost positive it wont even be close. gracie is just too old school and coupled with the fact that he's gotten older since the first ufc's just makes it even more of a one-sided fight.

i think even if it was 1993ish and gracie is at his best, mma has just advanced way too fast in the years for him to even be a serious contender.

also anyone see spike tv when gracie said, "i'm gonna choke him out. apply a submission. help him up. send him home."

gangsta.

For those of you planning on watching this at your local Hooters. You better get there early because there will be a long ass line and a wait list to get in. My pick is Hughes by decision. I can't see Hughes submitting Gracie.

fuck.

good call on this.

i almost got on PF last saturday to post a thread about this, and when i searched the pay-per-view channels for 10 minutes and couldn't find anything, i came up to the computer and found out it was today...

but yeah, i almost forgot about this..now i got a decision to make...

i was headed over to my friend's to quickly rape his computer of 3-4 cd's worth of jams, and then to the bar, and then to my brother's house to quickly relieve him of 5-6 buy-in's in headsup nlhe...

now, i may have to stay home.

hmm...

either way, i wish my bookie would take a bet on this, what's the line on hughes??? he's gonna kill gracie.

don't get me wrong, i have ufc 2 and 3 on VHS TAPE, and he's a gangster in those, coming out in the family train, fighting in karate gear, etc...but matt hughes is a motherfucking iowa corn-fed freak, and will inevitably smash gracie's face...

gonna call my brother now to see if he'll come here instead...

i'm gonna have to pop this in..

3rd post in a row, i know...

just rented this. brother's coming with a 1/2 liter of grey goose in an hour or so...

i could probably be talked into coming with updates every fight or so if anyone wants to know...i don't know if the ufc website does that or not..

lemme know.

4th in a row...

so i'm sitting here checking the odds for hughes/gracie, because i figure, if i'm gonna watch this, i might as well bet, right?

so if hughes is -286, that means i gotta bet $28.60 to win $10, right? slightly under 3:1...

if it was -300, then i gotta bet, say, $15 to win $5, or $30 to win $10, right?

i'm there...watched the previews from 930-10pm, and hughes is gonna smash this guy's head in...

swing and a miss there...

mike swick in 2 minutes...

a swick head kick stuns riggs, riggs goes for a takedown while still dazed, swick catches him in a choke, gametime.

tapped out quick, too..

i've also sat here and watched hughes falling in the bets...started at -300, then to -270, now on bodog.com, he's -240 to win...

kinda makes me wonder, everyone's betting on gracie..

no, please keep posting. im gonna check up later on pf to see who won.

if hughes is falling in those bets, it must be all of the bettors watching that old gracie footage and letting their emotions get the better of them.

huuuuuuuughes...

a beat down.

went to the ground quick. gracie had half-guard and caught raining elbows/forearms/fists for about a minute and a half...he also had his arm, in a bad spot, and i was screaming that he'd (royce) tap out...he had an arm bar for about 30 seconds, and give royce credit, he got out of it..

eventually, after about another minute, hughes basically had his back, gracie covered face-down, and hughes started throwing hay-makers from his back and the ref stopped it, luckily for royce gracie, because he was getting killed...

gracie just now said in the post-fight interview that he'll 'be back to fight a few more', but to me, i won't pay to see it again, because this was domination...matt hughes didn't have a mark on his face, and wasn't ever in trouble at all...

again, probably about 4:00 of the first round, matt hughes wins by referee stoppage due to pounding gracie's head into the ground after having side and top-control the whole fight...

bet only $15 (got scared of the bullshit odds at the end there) to win $6...

Don't be, I'm sure he got paid a shitload. He knew what he was getting into.

maybe i'm nostalgic or very honorable but to me, my legacy would mean more then how much i'm getting paid.

i mean, i'm sure he was getting paid pretty well in japan too.

I didn't like how they kept saying Royce was undefeated in MMA. Hell he's not even undefeated in the UFC. He had a draw with Shamrock in a superfight and threw in the towel after beating Kimo in UFC 3. Kazushi Sakuraba whoop that ass for 90 mins in the 2000 Pride Grand Prix.

i was kinda disappointed with the diego sanchez fight...crowd was booing a lot by the end..

13 minutes of nothing, then the last 2-3 minutes, diego was on dude's back just hanging on...

pretty silly to have a fight end with the last 3 minutes, one guy walking around with another on his back...
