tiki is getting respect just by having his name mentioned on the same list as these other dudes. his career has had a great resurgence in the past couple years since he learned how to not fumble so much. but don't act like it's always been like this. three years ago nobody would have put tiki in a top five nfl rb list.

but anyway, this list has to do with now, and since he took over for priest, larry johnson has had far and away the best numbers in the league. he deserves all the hype he gets. not to say that the kc offensive line doesn't have something to do with it.

You're an Eagles fan and didn't even give Westbrook any props?

And Corey Dillon should be on here too.

I'm a huge Westbrook fan. I rock his jersey every Sunday, but reality is he isn't a top 5 back. He is one of the best receiving RB's in the league. I even have him ahead of L.T., but he doesn't run much and this year didn't help his case.

Dillion has had a string of injuries and has never had the success he once had in Cinn. Neither are top 5 or 6 RB's but definitely top 10.

homie, LJ is a fucking truck. The man scores like it ain't no ones business. 15 TD's in limited play is quite amazing. Let's not forget his 6 straight game with 100+ yards. He doesn't rush, he ruins defensive lines. I think if he was the starter from day one he'd not only lead the league in rushing but scoring as well. You can't say the same about Tiki.

Clinton's my boy, but it kind of defeats his case for being top 5 when you him tripping over himself 3 or 4 times a game, halting runs that should go 10-20 yards more and then see Ladell Betts come in and do the same thing he does.

i refuse to show LJ respect when he plays behind the most dominating offensive line in years.

1. LT
2. Edge
3. Shaun Alexander
4. Tiki
5. Portis
6. Larry Johnson

niggas are hyping up larry johnson because he's a fantasy stud.

fantasy stud does not equate great player. this is why, before this year, tom brady was a better QB then peyton manning.

larry johnson got KC's offensive line to fall on his lap and dick vermeil's running back happy system in place. i guarantee he does not put up top 5 #s on other teams/systems. meanwhile, i guarantee other players on this list can do the same thing and probably better in dick vermeil's system. this is why i never gave priest that much props even though i love that nigga.

I know that this statement comes from ignorance, but it is funny to say three years ago considering that is when Tiki really started to go off. The '02 season had him going for nearly 1,400, 16 TDs (11 rushing) 69 catches for nearly 600 yards. I got him in like the 9nth round of my fantasy draft and his stats were at the top.

The rest of the post is probably on point, considering if you did one of those "if you started a team today who would you pick" ideas you might go with every one of those players over Tiki. But at 30, let's see where you rank any of these dudes.

So, fuck this poll. Nohomo

I'll raise you two weeks ago:

Portis 27 for 136.
Cartright (their 3rd stringer) 9 for 118.

Portis is a really good back, but he misses holes a lot of times and he has a weird knack for literally tripping himself up or running into his own blockers too often. The sad thing is is if he'd just improve in these two areas he'd be a top 3 back cause he's got a lot of potential.

the only problem with Portis is that he doesn't get the ball enough.

Stop playing like you don't see him missing those holes :pause: and tripping over himself all the time.

There's been at least 3 or 4 times this year I've seen him fuck up what could have been a 40+ yard touchdown run by tripping over himself.

portis has great potential. he probably has more true speed then anyone on this list.

but i can't put a finger on why he can't put it together. redskins fans would know better then me.

however i think he could be probably the worst receiver on this list.

edit: he is probably the 5th or 4th best receiver on this list.

yeah
but I attribute that to coach running him off tackle like hes friggin Riggo.
btw: I was shitting myself when he took that pile six yards on third down to seal the game.
that is why he is number one, in my heart.

okay... so tiki did start to really go off three years ago. i thought it was two. but i'm not trying to say that he isn't a good player, or that he wasn't a good player before then. i'm trying to say that i don't think he has ever been a top five running back.

first of all, your stats are wrong. in 2002, the year he went off, tiki had 11 rushing tds and 0 receiving tds, giving him 11 total. he was seventh in the nfl in rushing yards and tied for ninth in rushing tds. very good numbers, not elite numbers.

(that same year, tiki did crack a top five... he was fourth in the nfl in combined yards from scrimmage. for which he deserves a pat on the back. however, he was only eighty yards ahead of number five on that list, charlie garner, and i don't hear anybody standing up for him, nor should i.)

so, although it was slightly misguided, i stand by my original statement since you made me go look up the numbers and all.

top five nfl rbs for 2002:

1. ricky williams
2. priest holmes
3. ladanian tomlinson
4. deuce mcallister
5. clinton portis

discuss.

and i might throw shaun alexander and travis henry on there before tiki.

this is my point: i have a ton of respect for tiki barber, he has stood the test of time, stayed healthy, stopped fumbling, and he has consistently been really good over the course of his career. but not once has he been an elite player.

Yeah, you caught me. I got the numbers wrong.

He did make the prowbowl last year. That might count as once.

Who honestly gives a FUCK about 2002 though? My original point was that people can hop on LJ's nuts when he puts together more than just a stellar 2/3's of a season. Lets see some consistency before he gets the same respect as Tiki.

Last year Tiki was an elite player. Did he not lead the league in all purpose yards? If not, he was up there.

Tiki is the new Curtis Martin, who I am sure you would make a point that he wasn't ever an elite player ever.

And  at Icesickle for hating on Tiki and Strahan because apparantely they ain't black enough.
