I'm leaning towards him being a scumbag. We already know he's an attention whore but if you were gay, why go through all this as a way to hide that? Like how does killing off your beard help your cause? Pretending you have a girlfriend then killing her off sounds like the worst cover ever. Did she at least have an insurance policy to collect? THAT would make sense. It seems much more likely to make up a sob story that keeps you in the headlines and improves your stock.

I'm thinking that by killing her off he gets people off his back about "dating" somebody he's never met. Her being dead lets him grieve and is a great excuse for being alone as the most famous/popular player on the #1 team in the country.

at first i thought it was just a storyline for his Heisman campaign, but this "relationship" has been going on for years - and the story about her dying didn't happen til the michigan state game in september, back when Notre Dame was still a joke and there were so many more legit Heisman candidates.

It is definitely a beard situation. Add up the other guy living in So Cal, having an instagram/twitter full of pics/mentions of Te'o. Plus the deadspin article calls out how Te'o was a huge USC fan growing up, but decided that "God's mysterious will sent him to Notre Dame." I think there is a straight-camp reason he ended up at a Christian school far, far away from the West Coast.
