I saw in the postgame interview the refs said to Jameer Nelson that they couldn't call an offensive foul on Kobe cause he had the ball. :naswtf:
It was obviously an accident. Again, I felt like Nelson just ran into it. At the beginning of the play Nelson pretends like he's going to double Kobe then he backs out, then he comes in again to actually double Kobe. I don't blame Kobe for not knowing where he was in that instance.

It was a good no call in my opinion.
I mean it could have been an accident, but given Kobe's history I doubt it

anyway even if its an accident its still a foul

Not true. How would you define the radius? It's not like you can elbow someone more than a foot away anyway. An elbow foul is always going to be close quarters.

Interestingly enough according to the rulebook it is actually an ejectable offense.

NBA Rules #12 - Fouls and Penalties

Section V--Conduct
d. A technical foul shall be assessed for unsportsmanlike tactics such as:
(6) A deliberately-thrown elbow or any attempted physical act with no contact involved

EXCEPTION: Rule 12A--Section V--l(5)
l. A player, coach or trainer must be ejected for:
(3) An elbow foul which makes contact above shoulder level

q. Elbow fouls, which make contact above shoulder level, and punching fouls, although recorded as both personal and team fouls, are unsportsmanlike acts. The player will be ejected immediately.

:icedit:

It's a little confusing, but I think it's only ejectable if it was "intentional", which you can't prove the Kobe elbow was.

Why would Kobe throw an elbow like that at the end of the game on purpose? It makes no sense at all. Shit like that happens in the first quarter or two generally if you're trying to send a message, not right at the end of a game.

It's probably a foul if you go by the letter of the law, but again I'm glad they didn't call it. To eject Kobe for that would have been ridiculous.

It shouldn't have been an ejection, but it should have been a foul. Don't really see how that can be debated. Intent doesn't matter in determining whether or not it's a foul. If you're trying to block someone and you hit their arm accidentally, it's not a no call because it was unintentional.

JAMEER NELSON RUNS INTO KOBE'S ELBOW. THAT'S WHY THERE IS NO MUTHAFUCKIN FOUL. IT'S NOT KOBE'S FAULT THAT NELSON IS 5'10 AND CAN'T PUT THE BRAKES ON. IF HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DECENT BASKETBALL HEIGHT, THIS PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.

ACCIDENTAL CONTACT HAPPENS QUITE A BIT IN BASKETBALL AND THAT WAS AN INCIDENT IN WHERE A NO CALL WAS ADEQUATE. U CAN'T CALL A DEFENSIVE FOUL ON NELSON, BECAUSE IT WAS HIM THAT ENGAGED IN THE CONTACT. U CAN'T CALL THE FOUL ON KOBE BECAUSE HE WAS MAKIN A NATURAL BASKETBALL ACTION AND HAD NO INTENT OF HAMMERIN JAMEER UPSIDE THE HEAD. WITH THAT SAID, THE OFFICIALS DID THE RIGHT THING BY NOT BLOWIN THE WHISTLE. END OF STORY.

What a shitty series, almost as bad as the Spurs/Cavs series. NHL playoffs > NBA playoffs.

This game was over for a long time.

Kobe's had an incredible game:

30 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks.

He's the best player in the league.

Congratulations Lakers fans, you guys had a helluva team and a helluva season.

Yeah the talk about LeBron is the best shouldn't really have happened because until he wins like Kobe it's silly.

That said the series was rather underwhelming.

Nope.

Lebron is much farther along than Kobe was at this point in his career, but Kobe has the edge in all the intangibles, and he's winning titles. Kobe is better at the line, and he's a better leader too. Dude just wills his team to win. Lebron hasn't been able to do that yet.

It's really close, but Kobe is the best right now.

first and foremost. I'm a laker fan. Bred one. And yes i'm messican. I think labron has passed kobe. But also i'm thinking i can't say that without labron making a real run at a title. But honestly Brons season was nuts. My arguement before was that he wasnt as good a defender or jump shooter and didnt' have that killer instinct. His d is damn solid now. His jumper is still a hair under kobe's and i still dont think he's got that killer instinct....but that will come. Its a toss up to me now.
