CHICAGO -- All-Pro linebacker Brian Urlacher says lingering contract issues mean he won't be with the Bears for Monday's start of a voluntary offseason program, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Urlacher said he will remain at his home in Arizona rather than report to team activities outside of Chicago this week. He hinted that he won't be around for any of the Bears' voluntary offseason workouts or organized team activities, the Tribune reported.
Urlacher is looking to extend his current contract. He is signed through the 2011 season and is scheduled to make $3.95 million next year. It is the same salary he made for the 2007 season.
Several Bears have been given contract extensions this offseason, including quarterback Kyle Orton (one year) and tight end Desmond Clark (multiyear).
The Bears cannot fine Urlacher for skipping the sessions, thanks to the NFL's collective bargaining agreement with its players. It can, however, impact his playing time if head coach Lovie Smith decided it should.

the problem is his back injury. It was clear to me from seeing him last year, that his back was affecting him. And if I remember correctly, it's degenerative. you are corrrect, His back has been an ongoing issue. yet..urlacher at 85% is still better than 98% of the LBs in the league. Act accordingly Bears management..you may be on the verge of a 3-13 campaign.still illiterate wrote:the problem is his back injury. Harsh? Not really. I'm tired of him. His bit last year of not talking to the media for months about his back and then randomly telling Jay Glazer? Acting as if this city owed him the courtesy of not asking why he sucked the first 8 weeks last year. Yes he is a great player, but he is a dumbass and a prick, and people in this city still treat him like royalty,. Fine. I get that. He is the great white hope and #1 jersey seller, so he is the face of the franchise, but I don't confuse his fame with his role on the team. Anyone who has watched the Bears closely over the last few years understands that Lance Briggs is just as good as him, and in terms of importance...Tommie Harris or a healthy Mike Brown are up there with him.

I read in the Post yesterday that the Skins brought Malcolm Kelly in to try out. Some teams had reservations about his 40 yard dash at an audition he held in Oklahoma because it wasn't up to par with his other times, but fuck it; dude is 6' 4" and has velcro hands. I think I made a post about him a while back.
The Skins biggest need is a big, possession receiver; Snyder better not fuck this up.

I would rather risk Jordan Hardy not beating women again than on this guy not being a bust.Icesickle wrote:I read in the Post yesterday that the Skins brought Malcolm Kelly in to try out. you mean James Hardy? I like both Hardy and Kelly, but not early.
Kelly's time is going to cost him a ton of cash, but that doesn't mean he won't produce on the field. Hardy had an average time, but his size and hands are ridiculous. I would be happy if the cowboys took Kelly with their #2 pick, or if they traded into the early/middle of the second for Hardy.

Sources: Chiefs agree to send franchise player Allen to Vikes
By John Clayton
Jared Allen, the franchise player for the Kansas City Chiefs, is heading to a new franchise, the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple sources.
Late Tuesday night, the Chiefs and the Vikings reached an agreement on a trade package, and at roughly the same time, Allen reached an agreement in principle on a contract with the Vikings. Upon reaching the contract agreement, Allen headed to the airport and left for Minnesota.
Sources said the Vikings included a second third-round pick (No. 73) in the 2008 draft to get the deal done. They had been offering a No. 1 pick (17th in the first round) and a No. 3 (No. 82). The teams also swapped spots in the sixth round with the Vikings getting a better spot in the sixth round, sources said.
Terms of Allen's new contract weren't available.

yeah, but drafting DES is risky and hardly a sure thing even in round 1, see James , Udeze,jazzmatazz23 wrote:If we were going to draft a DE with our first pick it is a great deal.
Ray edwards got busted using roids, Udeze has lukemia, James will never play again, Robison had a cute rookie season but I still need to see more
I guarn fucking T U they were grabbing a DE at 17
Now we have the NFL's sack leader, which made a great defense into an elite defense
shit is on and crackin now

The Green Bay Packers are exploring the possibility of signing veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper.
Sources said the 31-year-old Culpepper arrived in Green Bay on Tuesday evening and is visiting the Packers today.
Culpepper, an unrestricted free agent, played last season for the Oakland Raiders. In seven games (including six starts), he completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 1,331 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions.
The three-time Pro Bowler played his first seven seasons for the Minnesota Vikings, who selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 1999 draft. Following his tenure with the Vikings, he played the 2006 season with the Miami Dolphins.
The Packers view the 6-foot-4, 264-pound Culpepper as a possible backup for Aaron Rodgers, who will take over the starting quarterback job this season for the retired Brett Favre.

no, two 1st round picks is definitely too much. and to say drafting DEs is risky is bogus. drafting for any position is risky. just because the vikings swung and missed with james and udeze doesn't eman drafting DEs is risky. it just means your scouts and GM fucked up twice.
