Nog just displayed some beautiful BJJ to pull this one out. Lesnar showed some potential in the fight and could be pretty good in the future if he continues to work hard. All in all an entertaining card.

ya I can't lie I was absolutely shocked that Sylvia dropped Nog and was puttin the hurt on him. In my head I was fucking losing it but then Nog pulled side control and I was screaming "anaconda!!!!!!!!!" at the top of my lungs, when he locked that guillotine I fucking lost it. Damn I'm gonna go out of my mind with Nog vs Couture.

and I'm glad that Mir tapped Lesnar, in any fight I'm always gonna pull for the technician over the aggressive physical guy, but Lesnar came out like a fucking maniac, really it's only inexperience that he falls into a kneebar like that, I'm really interested how he comes out in his next couple fights.

jeremy horn and tyson griffin kinda suprised me too, horn coming out looking real soft and falling into a real stupid guillotine and tyson not seeming as effectively aggressive as he's been.

Lytle handling that guy had to be knockout of the night, he absolutely destroyed whoever the fuck that was.

Co-signed on the Nog victory. I sat in fear for two rounds that I'd have to witness another Tim Sylvia title run.

I think Werdum gets the first shot at Nog.

Also, I'll be interested to see who they match up Lesnar with next.

I'm glad Nog pulled out a win. I can't stand Silvia. Lesnar's next fight should be against Silvia. Let those 2 goons slug it out. Probably be a entertaining fight.

What r ur guys thoughts on this weekend's Kimbo V. Tank Abbot fight?

I don't think this fight will even be one i'd like to watch. Tank is waaaaaaay past his prime and kimbo should kill him. I'd still like to see Kimbo get in the the UFC ring for a three fight contract to really see where he stands.

Doesn't really interest me. Ill be interested in Kimbo when he actually fights a quality opponent. Until then hes just an over hyped internet product to me.

FIGHTIN FEDOR

http://mmajunkie.com/2008/02/12/m-1-glo ... elianenko/
The recently restructured M-1 Global organization is teasing a new weekly TV reality series called “Fighting Fedor,” in which 16 heavyweight prospects will take part in a tournament-style competition. The winner gets a fight with the organization’s biggest (and right now, only) star: famed Russian Fedor Emelianenko.

:naswtf: hahaha omg this is basically the worst possible scenario for anyone wanting to see Fedor fight, not only is he gonna fight someone who in all likelihood is a nobody that just won a reality show, but he's gonna be on the shelf until all that mess is actually shot and aired.

Seriously,

Mirko Cro Cop FilipovicMirko ג€œCro Copג€ Filipovic (22-6-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has left the UFC and signed with a new fight promotion called DREAM, it was announced today at a press conference in Japan.

Filipovic will make his debut with the organization at DREAM 1, a March 15 show in Saitama, Japan.

The new organization was founded by the Fight Entertainment Group, which is the parent company of the successful K-1 promotion, and former executives of the now-defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships, which was bought out and dismantled by the UFCג€™s parent company a year ago.

Rumblings that the Croatian fighter may be leaving the UFC heated up over the past few days as Filipovic posted blog entries teasing a big announcement. Over the past few days, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) spoke to numerous sources close to the UFC, who could only confirm that Filipovic ג€œmightג€ be on his way out of the organization.

Filipovic, who made his octagon debut at UFC 67 with a first-round TKO of Eddie Sanchez, has since suffered back-to-back losses to Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo. They were the first consecutive losses of the fighterג€™s career, and they led to speculation that Filipovic might consider retirement.

After the September 2007 loss Kongo, Filipovic did admit that the thought of quitting crossed him mind. However, he later stated that he expected to return to the UFC in early 2008.

However, during press events for UFC 81 earlier this month, UFC President Dana White said that Filipovic and his camp hadnג€™t been in contact with the organization. White said he was forced to implement a Feb. 4 deadline for the fighter to confirm whether or not he would be continuing his career with the UFC.

Itג€™s believed that the UFC requested that Filipovic renegotiate a new deal. During UFC 66 in December 2006, the UFC officially announced that Filipovic, the PRIDE FC 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix champion, had signed a lucrative two-year, six-fight deal with the organization. Apparently, Filipovic was unwilling to do redo the deal, and the UFC opted to let him walk instead.

* * * *

In addition to Filipovic, DREAM today announced other fighters taking part in its inaugural show.

Shinya Aoki will meet Gesias ג€œJZג€ Calvancante in the opening round of a lightweight grand prix tournament that will be held at the March 15 show. The first round of a middleweight tournament bout is also expected to take place.

In addition to Filipovic, whoג€™s expected to fight for the organizationג€™s first-ever heavyweight title, other fighters competing in bouts include Norifumi ג€œKidג€ Yamamoto, Kazushi Sakuraba and Kiyoshi Tamura.

omg..LOL!

i don't teach there anymore...longish story, turns out it's not fun to get cussed out by teenagers on a daily basis with no repercussions...switched schools, same city, same kids, only not the 'worst of the worst'...

line's moved more on kimbo in the last few days, so hopefully that's a sign...

As a gambler you should have known that Tank hasn't made it out of the 1st round since 1998 and is like 1-8 or 1-9 during that span. Duke is also in his 40s.

knew that, but there also comes a point when you're laying -350 that you ask yourself, 'am i REALLY going to bet my ENTIRE bankroll on this fight??'

seeing that clip, the true line probably should've been in the -1000ish range..

EliteXC Expected to Announce Deal with CBS ג€” MMAjunkie.com Exclusive
Posted by MMA Junkie on February 27, 2008 at 1:36 pm ET

Image

ProElite Inc., the parent company of Elite Xtreme Combat, is expected to announce a deal with CBS that will put MMA on major network television for the first time.

Sources close to the deal tell MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that an agreement has been reached between CBS and the Los Angeles-based ProElite. However, officials could not publicly comment on the matter.

EliteXC was founded as a partnership with Showtime Networks Inc. in 2006. The organizationג€™s events, which are held under the EliteXC and ShowXC banners, currently air on Showtime.

Showtime is owned by CBS.

A source who spoke exclusively to MMAjunkie.com said that CBS will broadcast live EliteXC events in prime-time slots. The events will likely take place every other month.

An official announcement with additional details of the deal is expected to be announced in the next few days. A broadcast schedule and debut date could be included.

The announcement will come just weeks after EliteXCג€™s successful ג€œStreet Certifiedג€ event in Miami, Fla. In addition to drawing a sold-out crowd and setting a live gate record at the BankUnited Center, the event reportedly drew more than half a million Showtime viewers.

The fact that EliteXC ג€” and not the UFC, the worldwide MMA leader ג€” landed the first network-television deal is a bit of a surprise.

Beginning in October, UFC president Dana White stated that he was confident the organization would reach a deal with a major TV network, most notably CBS or NBC. In November MediaPost Publications reported that the UFC and CBS were in ג€œadvanced negotiationsג€ and that the announcement of an official partnership was expected to happen at any time. UFC 81, which took place earlier this month, was expected to be the first UFC event to air on CBS.

However, the deal eventually fell apart ג€” reportedly over issues with the creative control of the events. Those same issues kept a deal between the UFC and HBO from coming together last year, as well.

ProElite has been on a shopping spree during the past year, purchasing organizations such as ICON Sport, Cage Rage, King of the Cage, and Spirit MC. Additionally, the organization has recently signed long-term deals with notables such as Nick Diaz, Kevin ג€œKimbo Sliceג€ Ferguson, Robbie Lawler, Jake Shields, Murilo ג€œNinjaג€ Rua and Gina Carano.

For more about the organization, check out the EliteXC archives here on MMAjunkie.com.

anyone else pumped for this card??

late-breaking rumor is that anderson silva's knee has been bothering him, but the line hasn't moved much...went from -150 to -120, and then pounded back to -150...

i'm genuinely torn on this fight. silva is one of my favorite fighters, but i think i'm laying off betting this one, i wouldn't be shocked to see hendo grind out a brawling win in the late rounds...

i'd like to see how arlovski comes out with all the drama that's surrounded him lately..

jon fitch/diego sanchez/josh koscheck...all probably one-sided, but i'd like to see all 3 do some damage..

kongo...don't know what think about him, hopefully the fight stays standing, i'd like to see more of his kickboxing...

10 minutes...
