Pick the label and state the reason why.

It's between Nature Sounds and Duck Down for me right now. Nature Sounds has a better track record over the past few years, but Duck Down has really been stepping up it's roster lately (Special Teamz, KRS-One, I think they might have Masta Ace or his EMC group too).
Rap-A-Lot is my favorite indy though (if that counts).

def jux because they make the effort of creating albums, bodies of work that have a consistent vision throughout not just 20 beats by 20 different producers with raps over them, actual albums like they used to be made back in the day.
def jux keeps releases at a minimum but usually guarantees, even if you don't enjoy this kind of music, albums that sound like a lot of effort went into them and are representative of the artists that created them.

I thought it this was a non-sensical picture meant to mock DLG

I wouldn't exactly compare it to Uptown Saturday Night, but yeah, it's dope.DLG wrote:black holywoodALASKA wrote:theres a new camp lo? is it good?Combo7 wrote:What has Good Hands done besides the Camp Lo joint?

Yeah, it's frustrating to hear Beatkonducta and Oxperiment stuff when you know damn well that any number of ill emcees could have destroyed those beats. Stones Throw needs to step their rapper game upcitizen wrote:stones throw is mostly a producers label, they dont really have that many good emcees to put out good stuffsRandom Sample wrote:Jux is having a good year, but they need more hangar
I picked stones throw, I guess I am a stones throw fan boy.

I completely agree. It's been their weak link for years. Other than Guilty Simpson (who I can stomach), Percee, and the occasional MF DOOM joint, their roster is pretty atrocious when it comes to rapping.Funk Docta Bombay wrote:Yeah, it's frustrating to hear Beatkonducta and Oxperiment stuff when you know damn well that any number of ill emcees could have destroyed those beats. stones throw is perpetually the best label in my eyes. 06 seemed somewhat quiet but all the 07 projects are nice.
their MCs aren't nearly as bad as people are making them out to be. i think they've acquired that reputation over the years & it fulfills itself in the eyes of people who are looking for it. when actually there is a lot of great stuff put out under ST. yes there are occasional mis-steps but why doesn't ST get a pass on those rare occasions, when labels like Duck Down continually receive forgiveness?
