I've been a little bit more experimental lately.

One is more instrumentalish, "maelstrom." the sample is recognizeable as hell but oh well. i still like the piano line.

the new one "like a killer whale" is some fuck around techno thing i did. all sounds except drums sampled.

lakw-pretty cool for what it is, would probly make the snare more like a clap
good switch up, needs something more, a piano, synth or string line in it to really keep it moving

maelstrom-really nice, you worked that sample in a different way, it all blends together well, switch up the drum pattern a bit more would be a good place 2 start, nice track

mael - i recognize the sample but i don't know what it is. so you flipped it ok i guess. this is good i likes. the mix is a little muddy or is that the encoding?

like a killer whale - well executed. my head isn't automatically nodding which is my way of gauging if i like something. like i said, well executed for the formula i guess. just that the formula ain't that nice.

killer whale...this is pretty different sounding. not really grabbing me in anyway but its always good to experiment.

maelstrom...this is pretty fresh. you did flip the sample pretty nice. nothing to really gripe about. nice beat.

maelstrom--definitely a nice beat...The piano(?) that comes in is particularly dope....that makes the beat for me. i have no complaints with this, good job

killer whale--ehh not really my style, i didn't find any of the samples that interesting. i liked the other one a lot more

maelstrom - good name. this sounds like a typhoon breaking up with his girlfriend, or rather, trying to and failing. like, he's writing the note, and she walks in. shit bumps properly, for some reason i want to hear less kicks, like, let the bassline imply the thumps as opposed to shoving 'em there. but, it definitely works. props.

killer whale - ergh. really not digging this, at all. sounds like incidental music for a bad cell phone commercial, with ugly models and bad lighting. sorry, dude.

woe - oh, gotdamn, GREAT dig, dude. and props on doing it justice, this is some ol' rza shit. downsample the drums a few bitrates, and seriously, this coulda been a liquid swords b-side. dope chop, and imagination associated for hearing that in what this was. nice looking jawn.

MaelStrom-Nice flip on that sample,I won't blow your spot,as I'm sure most people gotta be familiar with that shit by now:),I think it's just a little too filtered though, makes it feel a little too grey to me,nice drums though, they sound a little cleaner than I'm used to hearing with you,I guess I always tohught you used an mpc or something, also the extreme amount of changes make this shit stand out fo sho

Woe-WHOA@this sample, great digging, seriously loving this,4th disciple fuck a 9th wonder type steez, chopping is very creative, kinda adds to the whole Rza influence on it,Ill beat doggie

I aint even about to peep that techno song, haha

maelstrom - ahh, took me a while to come up with it. someone flipped this on d's first album right? this shit is hot. i actually like the filtered sound on this.

killer whale - ha, can't comment on this cuz i detest this genre. just not my thing.

woe - grimey, hot sample man. definitely got that vintage wu sound to it.

good shit.

hey thanks for keeping this thread alive.

I changed the snare a tiny bit since I got my new laptop. I was able to import most of my beats into FL 6, which is nice so far.

There's one problem I have though with my new laptop. I can't mix for shit because the sound levels seem way off. For instance the FL monitor will show red(peak) levels, while to my ears it doesn't sound like it's clipping at all. It's like the level of sound is so low for some reason. I've tried fucking around with the windows volume levels, and i have it at full blast on every setting, and it's still not loud. hmm.

I got some more beats like "woe." I snagged this sick ass record from salvation army--i could probably make like 3-4 beats with it.

yeah, and that maelstrom sample was from Diana's ross's "theme from mahogany" record, which i also snagged with da quickness from salvation army.

Woe - I like how you chopped up the vocals in the main sequence. The sanre could be a tad louder, but other than that i like the switch ups. Nice beat.

Maelstrom - I like the sample. Who esle used it, I cant put my finger on it...
