wow, that song in that video definitely isn't true to their original form.
this won't work out well for fans or newcomers.

I can genuinely detail and describe the very first moment in the summer of 1996, and how much the singular song "Latyrx" has eternally and permanently changed my perception of what a song can be.
I did not get the same feeling when I heard this.
it was more along the lines of and
I can't even understand half the lyrics born. Sadly, I'm wreckoning this won't blow up like they dream it will...
"To put it simply, when this 12″ dropped, Lyrics Born and Lateef were on a page that no one had touched, let alone, torn to shreds in some time, if ever before. Their precise flexibility and ability to execute and accentuate it on a recorded track was what had rarely been done before. Their showcasing of styles and content is as diverse and confident as any rapper had been or ever will be."

i'm gonna try really really hard to like this because Latyrx, Company Flow and Siah and Yeshua altered my soul all around the same time, and I'll always have love for them.
but this... isn't

i decided to check the youtube comments and there wasn't as much hate as i expected, but then again the hate that was there was blatant and blunt.
most of the cheers were from people who never heard of latyrx. then again, this video was upped in February, and I just heard about it, so the fact that
it's still relatively unknown in this day and age (under 6,000 views in seven months) explains why the comments are 50/50.
also, according to the video info section, they dropped an EP back in November; titled "Disconnection" of all things.

Couldn't even finish the song. So bad. What were they shooting for here?
I really like that first Latyrx album too.

A whole hell of a lot better than most of the tracks on their first album.

Quannum was the west coast Def Jux, before Def Jux.
this song does not give me memories of 'Burnt Pride'.
it just is one of those now school songs...
and that's not Latyrx's style.
FYI: my middle name is Lateef
I try to be a Truthspeaker

It's not a bad attempt at what it is, and while it's not my kind of music I can see people who dig that stuff really digging it.
But for me, you are the motherfuckers who made Balcony Beach. When you made a pop song it was that Muzzapers stuff which was AWESOME. Whatever they did felt new and motivated by an actual attempt at art. It wasn't music to play while you prefunk for the next UFC PPV that sounds just like what you prefunked to last time. -+--
This is just such a giant shift in approach, image, everything it's just fucking bizarre and kinda sad. It just feels like we lost or something.

This is utterly disappointing. I really wanted this to be good. Love the first album and muzzapers EP. I banished that recent EP from memory; I should have known based on that to skip this.

Not feeling this at all. I liked the debut album because it was just weird and Lateef was dope as fuck to me on some battle rhyme shit. But from the looks of this single I don't think I'll be enjoying the new shit. Oh well......I'll always have the "Wreckoning".
